What happens if we don't have enough foster homes? It's a question we think about every single day during kitten season. Because the reality is—when there aren't enough fosters, our options become limited. Not because we don't want to help, but because we have to make sure the kittens already in our care can survive.
Without foster homes:
• We have to say no to kittens who need immediate help
• Neonatal kittens may end up in environments that aren't equipped to keep them alive
• Well-meaning community members are left trying to figure it out alone
• The most fragile kittens—the ones who need around-the-clock care—are the ones most at risk
Foster homes are what turn "we can't" into "we're on our way." Every time someone signs up to foster, it creates space. Space for another kitten to come in, to get the care they need, to have a real chance.
