Thank you to Morehead City - Beaufort Elks Lodge #1710 for your generous donation of $2,500 in survival gear to Veterans Services of the Carolinas.

VSC Peer Support Specialist Patrick Byan and Director of Outreach Benji Horton were honored to accept these donations at the lodge. This gear will go directly to supporting unsheltered Veterans and civilians in Carteret County, helping meet urgent needs and bringing comfort to neighbors facing difficult circumstances.

We are grateful for partners like the Elks who show up for their community. Together, we are making a difference for those who need it most. Join the North Carolina Grand Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary on October 17–18 for a special campout benefiting Veterans Services of the Carolinas! VFW Post 9133, Jacksonville, NC | October 17–18, 2026 | Campout begins at 5 PM

Enjoy an evening of food, live entertainment, raffles, s’mores, and community fellowship, all while supporting the mission to end Veteran homelessness. Landlords and property management companies play such an important role in helping Veterans exit homelessness and move toward long-term stability. This event is a chance to connect, learn, and talk about practical ways we can partner together to support Veteran success in our community. We’re grateful to our partners at the Jacksonville Board of REALTORS and Blue Cross NC for helping make this event possible.

Just over a year ago, Bernard was sleeping in his vehicle and feeling completely disconnected from the world around him.

In August 2025, the Marine Corps Veteran connected with VSC’s HOPE Program and entered Onslow Community Outreach’s shelter that same day.

Since then, Bernard has put in the work, addressing past trauma, rebuilding trust, strengthening his stability, and continuing his recovery with support from VSC programs and community partners.

Today, Bernard has a home to call his own and a new outlook on what comes next.

Sometimes hope starts with knowing you don’t have to do it alone.

We're Hiring: SSG Fox Case Manager – Su***de Prevention

ABCCM is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven Case Manager, Su***de Prevention to join our team serving veterans and individuals facing behavioral health challenges across Western North Carolina.

In this role, you'll walk alongside veterans and community members at risk, providing case management, crisis support, and care coordination that helps people find stability, safety, and hope. You'll build individualized service plans, connect participants to behavioral health and community resources, support safety planning and crisis intervention, and collaborate closely with the VA, healthcare providers, and community partners.

What you'll do:
Provide case management and care coordination for veterans and individuals facing suicidal ideation, trauma, substance use, or isolation
Complete assessments, build service plans, and track participant progress
Support crisis intervention and safety planning using trauma-informed practices
Coordinate referrals across VA, healthcare, housing, and community systems
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting (HMIS and program systems)

What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (preferred; equivalent experience considered)
Experience in case management, behavioral health, crisis intervention, or veteran services (preferred)
Strong communication, documentation, and sound judgment under pressure
Valid NC driver's license and reliable transportation

VSC Network Coordinators Chris Geter and Stacey Buckner attended the Fayetteville Marksmen Non-Profit of the Night Luncheon, where Veterans Services of the Carolinas was selected as the featured Non-Profit of the Night for Star Wars Night!

Join us Saturday, January 23 at 6 PM as the Fayetteville Marksmen take the ice for a night of hockey, Star Wars, and community, helping shine a spotlight on the work being done to support Service Members, Veterans, and their families across the Carolinas.

We’re grateful to the Fayetteville Marksmen for giving local nonprofits a platform to connect with the community, and we can’t wait to see everyone in a galaxy not so far away.
