Last month, across three countries, our missionaries fed thirty struggling families, clothed thirty children, visited two children's homes and a home for orphaned kids, held gospel gatherings that drew hundreds, sat in living rooms with families who are still deciding, and baptized twenty new believers.

Every bit of that was done by people who already live in those communities. There were no international flights to fund, no housing to set up, no language school to pay for, no team that leaves when the trip ends. Ask our India team how they lead someone to Christ and they'll tell you about an address book. 📓

When they meet someone on the street who leans in a little, who asks a real question, who doesn't walk away, they ask for an address. Not to close a deal that day. Almost nobody says yes the first time, and our team has stopped expecting them to.

What they do instead is come back. And then come back again. They bring medicine when there's sickness. They bring food when the shelves are empty. They pray with families in the middle of whatever's falling apart. They keep showing up until the relationship is real, and only then do they invite someone to church, sometimes walking them over to a nearer congregation.

It's not efficient. It doesn't produce impressive numbers quickly. But last month, thirteen people who had said "not yet" on a street corner said yes in their own living rooms.

Patience is a strategy and God’s timing for each person he has called to faith is perfect.

A lamp is only useful to someone who's actually walking. So pray for the women and men across our communities who are reading their way toward Jesus, one marked-up page at a time, and pray that God keeps providing the Bibles to put in their hands. 🕯️

Maham lives in Pakistan, and our team started coming to her home to read and teach the Bible with her family. Not a single event. Not a one-time visit. They kept coming back, week after week, sitting in her home and opening God's Word together.

In her own words: "Through God's Word, I decided to leave my old life behind and follow Jesus Christ. I have now made the decision to be baptized as a public declaration of my faith. I praise God for His mercy and pray that He continues to use the PHOKOS Team to bring many more people to Christ."

There is no shortcut in that story. Just faithful people showing up with a Bible, over and over, until a woman decided her old life wasn't worth keeping. That's what your support makes possible. ❤️

One of our missionaries in Kenya sat down with a young man who was resting before his work shift. 💬

They started talking in the national language, the way any two strangers would. But somewhere in the conversation, our missionary realized the two of them came from the same rural area and shared the same native tongue. So he switched.

The change was immediate. The young man's whole face lifted, surprised and delighted, and the conversation that had been polite became personal. Our missionary described it plainly: sharing the Gospel in the language a person dreams in makes it intimate in a way that translation never quite manages.

This is the whole reason Phokos exists. We don't fly people in. We support missionaries who already live there, who already know the culture, who already speak the language, and who will still be there next year and the year after that. When the Good News arrives in your own words, from someone who understands where you come from, it lands differently. 🗣️

During a street outreach in Kenya last month, our team approached two Muslim men, Suleiman and his friend. Our team said: "We approached them respectfully, but they were not interested in listening. We honored their decision and moved on, trusting God to water the seeds of kindness shown."

Every evangelist feels the pull toward the easy conversation, the person who looks open, the face that seems friendly. Our team could have walked right past these two men and no one on this side of the world would ever have known. There would have been no gap in the work that month, no one asking questions. They approached anyway, fully aware that rejection was the likely outcome.

And then, when the answer was no, look at what they did not do. They didn't argue. They didn't bait anyone into a debate. They didn't shame these men or make them feel small for declining. They honored them. That word is in the report because it's what actually happened.
A wise evangelist understands that people often move toward Christ a millimeter at a time, and that a kind, respectful exchange with a stranger may be the very thing God uses years from now. Our team's job that day was to offer, to honor, and to do nothing that would make the next person's conversation harder. They did all three.

Pray for Suleiman and his friend. Somebody planted kindness in their path, and God is more than able to make it grow. 🌱

In India, July started with thirty children receiving new summer clothes. That alone would have been a good day, but the team stayed and sat down with the children, taught them Bible stories, and sang gospel songs with the kids. The parents were nearby the whole time, listening, and by the end of the afternoon the Gospel had reached the whole family.

When someone shows interest during street evangelism, our missionaries get some info. Not to add a name to a list, but so they can come back. And they do come back, again and again, until a stranger becomes a friend and a friend becomes a brother or sister in Christ. Mid-month they returned to fifteen families they had first met on the street, brought our women missionaries along so the mothers would have someone to talk with, and simply spent time. Thirteen people gave their lives to Jesus that day, simply because our team was faithful to keep showing up and God used that for his purposes. It is slow, patient, unglamorous work, and it is exactly how the Gospel has always spread.

The month also brought a large gospel gathering where the team preached, sang, and then shared a meal with everyone who came. More than twenty people repented and confessed Jesus as Lord. And on the last Sunday of the month, the team went to visit orphaned children, bringing refreshments, praying with them, and opening the Bible together so those kids would know they are not forgotten.
