The Arco Lions are planning a workday at Blizzard Mountain on Saturday October 24 to remove the old grips and drops and replace them with New (to us) Poma grips and drops, Bald Eagle Lifts provided the hardware and the Butte High School Welding Shop manufactured the new shackles., The shop also built up the worn grips and Lion Randy machined the,. We should have enough new grips to replace all of the old ones that frequently bank against the sheaves. If you can help, please call Chad at 208-940-0222.

It's looking more and more unlikely that Bliz will open this year. Bliz is suffering fron the same problem most of the West only worse! The big stor5gm that came from California in December should have given us 3 or 4 feet but we got rain instead! Subsequent warm weather right after more recent storms has pretty much melted whatever snow fell. We are however getting an opportunity to upgrade the drops with new grips that will make lift more reliable....However in the mean time ....no need for skis or snowshoes!

Congratulations to Debbie Chilton of Inkom who won the Blizzard Mountain 50:50 Raffel at the Idaho Falls Nordic Ski Patrol, Banff Mountain Film Festival. The film festival supports IFNSP skiing and ski safety grants. The 50:50 raffle will support maintenance and repairs at Blizzard.

Scott and I are at the Idaho Falls Nordic Banff Film Festival at the Colonial Theatre in IF. Blizzard Mountain is running 50/50 Raffle for $1 a ticket. We will draw tomorrow night....prize is 1/2 of the cash! Come support Blizzard a Idaho Falls Nordic Ski Patrol!

When Wes and Chris installed the braces for the SW wall , they had to take off the shelf under the windows. Chuck and I have been working on it ( while waiting o@n test modifications on the grips).... all in place now!

We have been working on replacing the old grips with more modern ( but use) ones from Bald Eagle Lifts. Here we are test...

We have been working on replacing the old grips with more modern ( but use) ones from Bald Eagle Lifts. Here we are testing the new grips to see if they will tighten on our cable correctly. Some are going to need some "help". The new grips have a "C" profile so the cannot bang into the sheaves.
