The Vimercati family — Martino, Valentina, Francesca, and Annachiara — came all the way from Italy to see the landscape that influenced Larry McMurtry. Well, they came to see George Strait ,too, but were also excited to see the LMLC.

“Thank you for welcoming us in your beautiful center! We came from Italy and we have this amazing opportunity to discover Larry McMurtry’s world so close. We love his books because they are so inspiring about American history and landscape. This center will keep his heritage alive. Thank you!”

And thank you, Vimercati family, for your gift of “Crazy Horse” in Italian! We are excited to add this to our collection.

Join other writers in the hometown of Larry McMurtry for a unique, down-to-earth, and inspirational experience. There’s a workshop or retreat option for all types of writers in the small Texas town that shaped McMurtry’s childhood. Archer City may have changed a bit since then, but change often comes slowly to small towns. There is still just one flashing traffic light, cowboys continue to stop in at the local cafe in their dusty boots, and Friday night football remains serious business. One change we are especially proud of? McMurtry made Archer City into a book town, and we are working to preserve that. So, come visit, write, be inspired, learn something new, and enjoy the books.
