Larry McMurtry Literary Center Our center will also contribute to the revitalization of Archer City and the surrounding region by attracting literary tourism.

The LMLC mission is to resurrect and transform McMurtry’s internationally renowned bookstore into a world-class cultural center, preserving his legacy and books and inspiring writers, readers, scholars, and curious minds. Based in Archer City, Texas, Larry’s hometown, our literary center will ensure that Larry’s epic life and literature remain alive and relevant to new generations of readers, writers, artists, book collectors, filmmakers, and the general public. The LMLC is operated by the Archer City Writers Workshop, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Ivan from Santa Fe collects books on the Manhattan Project. Wouldn’t you know? He found one at the LMLC!

Here’s hoping you get some rest from your labors and the chance to read a book.

We love hearing the unique stories of our guests and finding out what brought them in. It’s also fun to hear which books they will be taking home. Meet Chris from Amarillo.
