How can adding more metro service to increase population in dying areas of cities and suburbs?
Well there’s a lot to unpack in a facebook post but here’s a broken down answer as easy as I can put it.
Adding more metro service can be a catalyst for increasing population in dying areas, as it can make these areas more accessible and connected to other parts of the city. Improved transportation options can make it easier for people to commute to work, school, and other activities, which can make these areas more attractive places to live. This, in turn, can lead to increased investment in the area, including new businesses, housing, and amenities, which can further contribute to population growth.
However, simply adding more metro service is not a guarantee of success, as other factors such as affordability, safety, and quality of life must also be addressed to create a sustainable and thriving community. It is important to take a comprehensive approach to revitalizing dying areas, which includes transportation improvements as well as other initiatives to address the underlying issues that have contributed to their decline. we do have plenty of lines that are almost exclusively used for freight traffic that could be used jointly. Hopefully working with the NEPA county governments and the PNRRA we can bring affordable government operated commuter rail to NEPA.

While I’m excited to see train service of some kind being brought back to the area, even if it’s excursions on the weekends from Pittston to Jim Thorpe, I am quite saddened at the fact this is a private corporation running these trains. This post is dedicated to rail infrastructure privatization.
Privatized rail infrastructure in America has hurt passenger service because private companies prioritize profit over the needs of passengers.
Private rail companies are more interested in making money than in providing quality service to passengers, so they often cut corners on things like maintenance and safety measures in order to save money. This can lead to accidents, delays, and other problems that make train travel less appealing to passengers.
In addition, private rail companies almost always focus on freight service rather than passenger service because freight is more profitable. This means that passenger trains often have to share tracks with freight trains, which can cause delays and other problems. Private rail companies may also charge higher prices for passenger tickets in order to make more money, which can make train travel less accessible to people who can't afford it.
Overall, privatized rail infrastructure has hurt passenger service in America because private companies prioritize profit over quality service for passengers. This has led to a decline in the quality and accessibility of train travel in America

Spent a lot of time trying to contact different groups about creating a more rail accessible region run by government agencies instead of private for profit excursion runs. We’ll see what they have to say. I’m using social media to come up with updates and won’t really try to get people interested in joining the coalition through social media, because it never really works, but I will give info whenever I can.

Judging by how I advocate for good bus service and rail transit I’m guessing you can tell what parts of NEPA I really care about.

Oh I need people interested in joining me in building a better transit network in the outter reaches of the downtown areas of the major cities. We need to get local, county, state and federal leaders involved in this. I’ll be posting more on the other page along with this one.

Outside of Lackawanna County and Luzerne Counties there’s not much build up and population the Lackawanna Valley and Wyoming Valleys transit service is a hard sell. The areas outside of those two valleys are rural for the most part and not very populated, still I am kinda shocked that there are as many bus services operating all over Northeaster Pa a lot of them I would assume are ride share buses for rural areas which doesn’t boast a lot of riders, we have them too in some of the less populated areas of Lackawanna County but they are still operated by COLTS. This was a kind of deep dive into the kind of transit this area boasts. Carbon county has Jim Thorpe but nothing else so the majority of Carbon County probably has majority ride shares too. Stroudburg area have a pretty intricate system by itself too at least around the city then it’s probably all ride shares and I’m sure most of Wayne Counties bus Service deals with Honesdale while the remaining county is all ride share, same with Pike county outside of Matamoras and Milford. It seems like a pretty sprawling system until you get into the fact that most of these counties have very little people.
