April Fish Monitoring: 4-28- 2026
Lower Little River Off-Channel Coho Habitat Improvement Project

On Tuesday, April 28, under the direction of Ross Taylor of Ross Taylor and Associates (RTA), a crew met at the Lower Little River Off-Channel Coho Habitat Improvement Project site to continue monitoring fish utilization. It was a very successful day. The April sampling resulted in the capture of 76 coho, all age-1+. Most were showing signs of smolting. In addition to the coho there were 22 Chinook salmon fry, 10 tidewater gobies, and a number of other species such as smelt and lamprey. Of the previously PIT tagged fish, there were 8 recaptures (recaps) of coho and one trout. The project is providing positive benefits for the Little River estuary ecosystem.

Here’s a brief video from the sampling efforts that day.
