Many people know that more than half of the oysters sold in CA are grown in Humboldt Bay. But did you know that Humboldt Bay oyster and clam seeds support 1,500 West Coast jobs, generating $31 million economic output every year?!

Humboldt Bay’s mariculture sector supported 57 local jobs while generating $31.1 million in total economic output in 2024, according to a new economic analysis prepared by the Schatz Energy Research Center

On August 8-9, the California Redwood Coast - Humboldt County Airport in McKinleyville (ACV) hosted the third annual Rumble Over the Redwoods bringing the community together. However, serious concerns were raised about its impacts to nearby harbor seals as a result of loud explosives used during the event. The air show can continue to bring our community together without simulated explosions that unnecessarily disturb local wildlife.
