🌴🐊 FLORIDA: Nature, Water, and a Way of Life Worth Protecting 🌅🇺🇸
Florida is not empty land waiting to be industrialized.
Not one wetland.
Not one spring.
Not one orange grove.
Not one stretch of coastline should be treated like disposable space for another massive AI data center.
Because Florida is more than coordinates on a corporate map.
It’s crystal-clear springs flowing through some of the most beautiful ecosystems in America. 💧
It’s family farms and ranches that have shaped communities for generations. 🍊🐄
It’s the Everglades, coastal marshes, wildlife habitats, and natural treasures found nowhere else on Earth. 🌴🦩
People aren’t against technology.
But they ARE asking why Florida should sacrifice land, water resources, energy capacity, and natural habitats so billion-dollar corporations can build enormous facilities that many local communities may never directly benefit from.
And in a state where nature, tourism, and outdoor recreation help define the economy and identity...
That concern hits differently. 😞
Because once wetlands are drained, forests are cleared, and open spaces disappear beneath concrete and industrial development, some things can never truly be replaced.
You lose habitat.
You lose biodiversity.
You lose quiet natural spaces.
You lose pieces of Florida that took centuries to become what they are today.
From the Everglades to the Gulf Coast… from the freshwater springs of North Florida to the beaches of the Atlantic… Floridians believe this land deserves protection, not exploitation. 🌊🌴
The Sunshine State was never meant to become one giant industrial footprint.
Some places are worth preserving exactly as they are. ❤️

He held 60 patents. He was called "The Black Edison" by the press and by Thomas Edison himself, who tried to hire him twice. When Woods refused, Edison tried to sue him for patent theft instead. Granville Woods beat Edison in court. Both times. Then history forgot his name. 🔌

Granville Woods was born in Ohio in 1856 and educated himself in machine shops, on railroad lines, and in the corners of whatever technical libraries would admit him. He became one of the most prolific inventors of his era, holding patents in electrical engineering, steam power, and railway systems. His most important invention, developed in 1887, was the Synchronous Multiplex Railway Telegraph, a system that allowed moving trains to communicate with each other and with stations. Before Woods's invention, conductors had no way to know where other trains were on the track. His technology directly prevented the collisions that killed hundreds of people every year in the 1880s. ⚡

American Bell Telephone and General Electric purchased patents from Woods throughout his career. The American Catholic Tribune called him "the greatest electrician in the world." Edison's attempts to claim credit for one of Woods's patents were twice defeated in court, with the patent office ruling in Woods's favor both times. Woods eventually sold several of his most valuable patents to General Electric and Westinghouse, patents that became foundational to the American electrical grid. He died in New York City in 1910 with very little money and a name almost no one carries forward. 🕯️

In honor of HCW Foundation, Inc. Board Member, James Lee Faison III, famous drummer, we honor his father! James Lee Faison Jr who served in World War II...in England and Germany. He returned to Goldsboro North Carolina and finished Dillard High School. He went on and Granduated from Fayetteville State Teachers College, which is now Fayetteville State University in North Carolina where his son graduated. He met Ruby Larkin Faison at Fayetteville State Teachers College. He is in their Athletic Hall of Fame for football and mom was a Cheerleader! We Salute 🫡 you!
