Partner Shoutout: Angel’s Attic
Angel’s Attic provides essential support to individuals and families in the community by offering food, baby needs, clothing, toys, and household items to those in need. Through its food pantry, clothing ministry, and household goods distribution, Angel’s Attic helps meet everyday needs while making a real difference for local families. HHYAP is grateful to have Angel’s Attic as both a resource and a continued supporter of the program, helping strengthen the network of care available to youth and families in the Hamilton Heights community.

Have you ever wondered who’s behind the work at Hamilton Heights Youth Assistance Program? Meet Mary Ann Haymaker. Since 2015, Mary Ann has been the driving force behind HHYAP, dedicating her time to supporting local students and building meaningful relationships throughout the community. She especially enjoys seeing the students she works with at school and being a trusted, positive presence in their lives. Mary Ann lives in Cicero with her husband, Sam, and together they share four sons: Brad, Taylor, Levi, and Sam. She also loves spending time with her six grandchildren, who bring her so much joy.
Mary Ann values the strong community partnerships and continued support of Hamilton Heights that help make the work of HHYAP possible each day.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Mental health matters at every age, and every young person deserves to feel supported, heard, and valued. At Hamilton Heights Youth Assistance Program, we know that caring for mental health is just as important as caring for physical health. Sometimes support looks like a conversation, a trusted adult, encouragement, or simply knowing you are not alone. Small moments of connection can make a big difference. This month, let’s continue to break the stigma, encourage kindness, and remind one another that asking for help is a sign of strength. Together, we can help create a community where every student feels supported and empowered.

Teacher Appreciation Week
This week, we celebrate the educators who make a lasting impact in the lives of students every single day. Teachers do so much more than teach lessons—they encourage growth, inspire confidence, and help shape the future through their time, patience, and dedication. From the classroom to the hallways and everywhere in between, their influence reaches far beyond academics. Make sure to take a moment this week to thank a teacher who has made a difference in your life. A few kind words can mean more than you know.

School Lunch Hero Day
On May 1, we celebrate the incredible cafeteria staff members who help keep our students nourished, cared for, and ready to learn each day. These team members do so much more than prepare meals—they create welcoming spaces, offer friendly smiles, and play an important role in the school day for so many students. Hamilton Heights is proud to have approximately 23 cafeteria workers and substitutes who serve our schools with dedication and care.
Join us in celebrating School Lunch Hero Day and be sure to thank the cafeteria staff
who make a difference every day!
