California-bred Grand Slam Smile surpassed $1 million in career earnings on Sunday with a thrilling nose victory in the California Distaff Handicap at Santa Anita! 💰🏇

The 5-year-old daughter of California sire Smiling Tiger rallied late to secure her 11th career stakes victory, bringing her lifetime earnings to $1,057,120.

Bred and owned by Larry and Marianne Williams, Grand Slam Smile is trained by Sean McCarthy and was ridden to victory by Juan Hernandez.

California stallion Collected’s Thought Process romps in Breeders’ Cup prep. ⭐🐎

Thought Process rolled to a 4 1/4-length victory in the G2 Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita, earning a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. The daughter of California sire Collected is now undefeated in five starts on the Santa Anita turf.

The win marked her third stakes victory of the year at Santa Anita, joining the G2 Buena Vista and G1 Gamely Stakes. 🌟

A record-setting day in California. 🌟

Hip 202, a California-bred c**t from the first crop of Arabian Lion, topped the Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearlings Sale at $525,000, establishing a new sale record.

Bred by Richard Barton Enterprises and consigned by Barton Thoroughbreds, the c**t was purchased by MWG Enterprises LLC, Michael McCarthy, agent.

The $525,000 price surpassed the previous sale record of $350,000 set in 2021 and provided another strong showing for the quality being bred and raised in California.
