We are a community organization that provides a meeting place for like minded individuals to exchange information, knowledge, points of view and learn from each other. We find and focus on our common ideas and discuss and explore our differences. was originally scheduled to be named Free thinkers, Atheists and Agnostic's Center for Truth (F.A.A.C.T.) later changed to Freethinkers and Atheist's Cen
ter for Truth. Ultimately it was decided to register under W.F.A while incorporating a legal entity as F.A.C.T. - First Atheist Church of Truth, mainly to be considered a capable organization by the state with qualified "clergy" and be able to provide services such as weddings and other ceremonies to our members and friends. We maintained Wisconsin Freethinker's Association as our main organization and meeting group, providing assistance to other local groups such as Jr. College and University student groups in the form of lectures, Audio/Visual aides, newsletters and other educational material. Our logo has its meaning and is divided into three parts, the ribbons, the coat and the symbols. The ribbons bear the acronym W.F.A. (Wisconsin Freethinker's Association), the bottom ribbons bear the Latin words ; Logica (Logic), Scientia (Science) and Liberum Cogitari (Free Thought)
The coat or coat of arms is headed by the human head and brain with the atheist atom inside, a statement of open mindedness and scientific inquiry, followed by the shield and its symbols. The symbols on the shield are "The Thinker" representing free thought and the never ending quest for knowledge, the atom representing science as we base much of our knowledge on the scientific method and empirical evidence. The atheist "A" represents those of us that lack belief in a deity, be it a personal god or a divine presence, and lastly the "Happy Human" symbol for Humanism, as a statement of our belief in attaining knowledge and emphasize the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively, preferring individual thought and evidence (rationalism, empiricism), over established doctrine or faith. Through the study of scientific theories, methods, research and publications we acquire a better understanding of our environment. We dive deep into the analysis of ancient languages, documents and civilizations. We study writing styles and interpretation, We take time to understand, to the best of our abilities, the world that surrounds us and the universe it resides in. Only through knowledge can we liberate our minds and here we are all students and teachers, that is the way to form a solid foundation for our stance on different worldviews, philosophies and opinions.
