Jim Murray Memorial Foundation The JMMF was established in 1999 to perpetuate Jim Murray's legacy and his love for and dedication to his extraordinary career in journalism.

The JMMF provides sports journalism scholarships to 2nd and 3rd year college students. The Jim Murray Memorial Foundation, a California 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation, was established to perpetuate Pulitzer Prize-winning sports columnist Jim Murray’s legacy and his love for and dedication to his extraordinary career in journalism. The Foundation’s goal is to raise funds throughout the year to p

rovide scholarships for second and third year journalism students. The Foundation coordinates a nationwide essay competition, with winners decided by a panel of nationally known journalists. Since the year 2000, the JMMF has granted 109 - $5,000 scholarships to outstanding journalism students. As of January of 2024, the JMMF is under the guidance of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
