Tonight, your Ararat Volunteer Fire Department members took on Advanced Search and Rescue at Surry Community College. A big shoutout to John Kuhlman. Thanks to him, our members have sharpened their skills when it comes to a community member that may be stuck in their home during a very crucial moment. We reiterated our skills on looking for Life, Fire, Layout upon entering an environment with hot and smokey conditions. Whether it's through a window or upstairs in your remodeled home office, we are now more ready than we were before to help you all in need.

Thank you Ararat community for always trusting us and supporting us.

Ararat Community--

We are under a flash flood warning until 5:30 AM.

Currently, Radar Rd is now closed due to flooding.

WHEN IN DOUBT, TURN AROUND-- never attempt crossing through flooded waters, whether it's driving or walking. You never know if there is a strong current underneath. Especially at night.

If you come across any flooding, please let emergency services know. Help us keep the community safe and report any unsafe conditions. If more road closures come up, we will most certainly keep you updated.

Tonight, Ararat Volunteer Fire Department went to the training grounds at Surry Community College and trained on the second part of our Fire Behavior series. Members went into the burn building with specialized technology to show how quickly a fire builds and the temperatures with it. These skills that were acquired will help members understand how certain fire scenarios will most of the time play out. Thanks to this training, our members will be more prepared to help if the time comes.

On Monday, Ararat Volunteer Fire Department and other neighboring departments completed a water rescue training course. We learned safe ways for members to help somebody stranded in strong currents and deeper waters.

A huge thank you to Homeplace for allowing us to utilize your pool for this training. We really appreciate your support of our volunteer organizations and of your fellow community members.

To our Ararat community,
Happy Independence Day.

Today marks 250 years since our nation became an established, free nation.

May you spend this day with your family and friends, laughing, smiling, and many fantastic fireworks.

We cannot wait to see you all at our parade and big celebrations afterwards.

Happy 4th, Ararat!

Hello Ararat community!
Here are some reminders and new updates for the 4th of July festivities.

🎆Parade starts at 9AM on the Old U.S. 52 side of Ararat Road and will end at the fire department. Line up will begin at 8AM and members of the fire department will be blocking off intersections along Ararat Road around 8:30AM. These intersections will be Community Bldg, Towe Rd, and the railroad tracks below the station. For clarification on earlier questions, those in 4wheelers and side-by-sides will need to gather at the intersection of Towe Rd and Ararat Road to join the parade.

🎆We are hosting several food trucks at the station for after the parade and will have tables set up inside the station to allow community members to eat in the air conditioning.

🎆There will be a judged competition of 4wheelers, side-by-sides, and golf carts! Bring your decked out ATV by the station by no later than 11AM. There is a $5 entry fee for this. Judging will happen by a fellow community member and prizes will be given out around 11:30AM. We will have 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes for each category and a Best in Show award for the overall best between the three categories.

🎆We will once again be holding a Mayor's Race! It is free to register. Please do so as soon as the parade ends. We ask that you bring a jar with a picture of who you're registering. Candidates will be judged by the community in the form of donations. The winner will be whose jar has collected the most donations. The winner will be announced around 11:30AM.

🎆The Polaris RZR and trailer drawing will be held between 12 NOON and 12:30PM. We will actively be selling tickets for the drawing leading up to it. The cutoff will be NOON. For those who aren't able to attend, we will be streaming LIVE on our page. May luck be on your side.

🎆Finally, while we are excited to spend time and fellowship with our community, it would be remiss to remind you of a couple of things. It will be a scorcher this weekend! Please stay hydrated and cooled throughout the celebrations. Be sure to pack cold water and fans if you have them to help combat the heat. And of course for the evening festivities that you may attend, practice safe celebrations. If you let off any fireworks, be sure to have a working water source that can reach the set off site. Be aware of your surroundings and mindful of those in your community.

Thank you Ararat Community! We are blessed and honored to serve you!
