𝐇𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐔𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐇 𝐈𝐍 𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐀𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘
𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐀𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘 – On May 23rd, at approximately 2:30 AM, Aransas County Dispatch received a 911 call of a hit-and-run fatality crash on Business 35, approximately half a mile north of US 188, involving an unidentified vehicle and a bicyclist. The 911 caller reported another male at the scene, going into the deceased bicyclist's pockets, taking several items, and then leaving on foot. Troopers responded to the scene and began their investigation, determining that the bicyclist was traveling southbound on the improved shoulder when the unknown vehicle failed to maintain its lane and struck the bicyclist, throwing the white male rider off the bicycle and into the ditch. The car then left the scene of the crash.
Through their investigation, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers determined that the vehicle involved was possibly a BMW and has damage to the front grill from striking the bicyclist. The bicyclist did not have any identification with him, and his identity is currently unknown.
Justice of the Peace Judge Dupnik pronounced him deceased at 3:35 AM. The crash remains under investigation by Troopers from Highway Patrol Office in Rockport.
