God's Feral Felines

God's Feral Felines God's Feral Felines is committed to making a difference in the lives of owned, and unowned cats in Marshall, Blount, and Cullman County Alabama.

Over 5000 cats have been sterilized through our 3 programs. We are a non profit 501(c)(3) shelter located in Arab working to lower the number of feral and abandoned cats. We offer TNR assistance (Trap, Neuter, Return). Our Kitty Project is a program designed to help low income families get their cats fixed, and our shelter is geared toward the rescue of orphaned young kittens. If you need help ple

ase call us. 256-640-8000. We are not able to accept owner surrenders. One unspayed cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats over seven years. Many of these cats are feral or have been abandoned, left to fend for themselves in the streets. Diseases such as Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDs are highly contagious to cats and are easily spread, most often by fighting from unneutered cats. Both of these diseases are untreatable once contracted and wipe out the cats’ immune systems often leaving them to suffer and die. Unneutered cats are much more likely to fight with other cats; harsh climates, cruel people, automobiles also pose a threat. By neutering and vaccinating these cats it helps greatly to keep them healthy and of course reduce unwanted and uncared for litters!

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I must announce the discontinuation of GFF's TNR and Low-Cost Spay and Neuter programs, due to ongoing medical and personal challenges as well as a decline in donations. Rest assured, we will honor all certificates that have already been issued.

UPDATE ON MARSHMALLOW, the cat who was shot. Her amputation took place this past Tuesday, and she is recovering well. Cats can lead incredible lives even with just three legs. It turns out she was shot with a pellet, but fortunately, it struck in a non-critical area. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed towards her amputation. Here’s to Marshmellow racing around her home and getting lots of hugs and kisses from her owner.

UPDATE: We have committments for the full amount of her surgery. Surgery day will be Monday or Tuesday. Thank you to everyone that has donated or has committed to donating. I just posted a picture of her xray in the comments if you are interested in seeing it.

Marshmellow Needs Your Assistance
Meet Marshmellow, a lovely Tabby and white kitten with a beautiful spirit. On Thursday, she accidentally slipped outside as someone was leaving for work. When her owner discovered her later that day, she was limping and unable to place any weight on her left front leg. GFF arranged for a veterinary examination, and unfortunately, it was revealed that Marshmellow had been shot. The leg below her elbow has been severely shattered. The estimated cost for amputation ranges from $500.00 to $600.00, and we are seeking donations to help cover this expense. GFF has already taken care of the X-rays and initial examination costs. Please donate if you can. We need to raise this money so Marshmellow can get her surgery. You can donate via PayPal using email [email protected] or Venmo using -Cats. If you would like to pay the vet directly you can call Spring Creek Animal Clinic at 256-582-5910.

Trapping efforts are ongoing at our two feral cat colonies. The latest four cats captured are numbered 9, 10, 11, and 12, contributing to an estimated total of 60 cats across these colonies. Initially, we thought there were around 40 cats. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated to support these colonies; your contributions are what make our work possible.

This update is long overdue, and I sincerely apologize for the delay.
The year 2024 marked a significant shift for GFF. With the shelter closed, we redirected our efforts towards assisting low-income households in getting their cats spayed or neutered—households that otherwise would not have had the means to do so. We issued 491 certificates, and out of those, 454 successfully had their cats fixed in 2024. We anticipate processing the remaining certificates within the first few months of 2025. Of the 454 cats that were fixed last year, 277 were females.

Additionally, in 2024, our foster rescue program helped 50 kittens, and we managed to spay or neuter 170 community cats. This brings the total to 674 cats that were fixed in 2024. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated to our organization; without your support, we wouldn't have a TNR program, low-cost services, or a rescue initiative. Your contributions are crucial to ensuring that more cats can be fixed.

Our low-cost spay and neuter program is a proactive measure, while our rescue and TNR efforts are reactive to existing issues. By encouraging cat owners to fix their pets, we can prevent the birth of kittens that contribute to feral colonies or require rescue. If you have a cat in need of spaying or neutering but cannot afford it, please reach out to local organizations for assistance.

In the meantime, God’s Feral Felines is urgently seeking funds to maintain our programs, as donations have decreased by 75%. Already in 2025, we are working with two feral colonies housing 60 cats between them, with additional requests for help coming in. We have already issued 45 certificates. Your support for these cats is urgently needed. Donations can be made via Venmo at -Cats, through PayPal at [email protected], or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 1065, Arab, AL 35016. The cats are depending on you. Picture for attention.

Trapping has commenced in our feral colonies. Today, three cats were captured (see pictures) and will no longer contribute to the overpopulation. Two more will be trapped on Friday, followed by another five next week. We recognize that trapping and transporting can be time-consuming, and we greatly appreciate the efforts of feral cat caregivers who ensure these cats won't reproduce. Thanks also go out to those that donated to make fixing these cats possible.
