Barrel Labeling at Second Harvest

Until this year, the Second Harvest Food Bank’s food collection barrels did not nest, and so took a lot of space to store and transport. This year, Second Harvest purchased durable, nesting plastic barrels, but they needed to be labeled! Capitola Aptos Rotary Club to the rescue!

In a two-hour shift, club president Julie Lambert and members Nelson Crandall, Doug Deaver, Michelle Dixon, Win Fernald, and Sharon Shriver-Bell labeled every bucket on the premises with the Second Harvest logo and QR code!

It wasn’t as easy as it sounds. It took sharp, skilled thumbnails to separate the stickers from their backing. Moreover, affixing the large labels to a rounded, tapering surface without air bubbles took a lot of patience. With practice, however, it got easier and quicker.

At the conclusion, Second Harvest CEO Erica Padilla-Chavez and Chief Development Officer (and longtime club member!) Michele Bassi congratulated the members on the successful completion of their mission. Hooray! Everyone left with warm feelings about this time well spent!

We were notified on Saturday evening that some random person (this time named "Audrey Frick", but like scammer whack-a-mole occurs these days, they will have a different name next time) was proactively reaching out to all people marked interested in our event attempting to obtain pre-payment via CashApp, Paypal, Chime or Apple Pay.
****THIS WAS NOT US!****
Please do not pay any random person who reaches out to you, we will only be selling tickets to our fundraisers via Eventbrite or via an official PayPal invoice sent through our club account. We also DO accept credit card payments, contrary to what scammers say as they try to obtain payment through non-tracible formats. As a 501c4 we paper trail ALL donations and contributions.

You can ALWAYS verify the validity of any person on our board of directors by going to our website and seeing the names of our board members.
Please stay vigilant against scams, and we hope all scammers who try and steal money from our community's non-profits go straight to Dante's inferno immediately!

On February 23, 1905 our founder Paul Harris sparked a global organization based on service and friendship. For the past 120 years, Rotary has united individuals committed to making a positive impact worldwide.

Capitola-Aptos Rotary Club has been part of this organization for almost 60 years. We are dedicated to fostering fellowship and service, continuing the legacy of Service Above Self.
