Wonderful presentation by Amber Rowland, General Manager, Santa Cruz Animal Shelter. We learned so much about how the shelter provides humane services to pets as well as unhoused animals and wild animals and how the public, volunteers, and local communities step up to help.

The shelter rescues and assures temporary shelter, veterinary and humane care for over 6,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated, neglected and injured animals every year.
Their next low-cost event will be November 6, 7 and 8, 2026.

Thanks to our District 5170 Governor, Geeta Kadambi, who visited our club yesterday. It was an honor to host her and Lt Gov Cheryl Lander. She shared some great ideas and helped President Julie Lambert graduate some red badge members to blue, welcome a transfer member from Yakima, and present an officer badge!

Capitola-Aptos Rotary is proud to have played a significant role in funding the new Treasure Cove at Jade Street Park, Capitola’s first fully inclusive playground—a place where children of all abilities can play, explore, and have fun together.

Treasure Cove was developed through a partnership between the City of Capitola and County Park Friends, which worked with the local community to raise more than $1 million in private funding to help make the playground a reality.

Treasure Cove is a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared vision. Capitola-Aptos Rotary is especially proud of the generosity of our members and supporters who embraced this project and helped transform the dream of a truly inclusive community playground into a place that children and families can enjoy for generations to come.

We are so pleased to receive the top District 5170 Level Governor Award! We achieved 100% of our Service & Impact goals set at the beginning of the year - more than any other rotary in our area. Congratulations to our Club President, Julie Lambert and every Capitola-Aptos Rotary member!
