🏆 Public Speaking Results 🏆

3 of our chapter members traveled to the Piedmont Federation Public Speaking LDEs at Buckingham County High School.

🥈Colton placed 2nd in the Creed Speaking LDE. He recited the FFA Creed and answered questions related to the meaning and application of “I believe” to our current generation.

🥇Savannah presented her Prepared Public Speaking LDE speech titled “Mental Health in the Agriculture Industry.” Upon completion of reciting her speech, she completed an additional 5 minutes of questions. She won the event!

🥇Chloe participated in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking LDE. She selected to write a speech on how agriculture will evolve to feed the growing population of the world. Chloe was given 30 minutes to write her speech, present it to the judges, and answer additional questions. She also won the event!

All 3 did an excellent job in their respective events! Chloe and Savannah will advance to the Southeast Area events next week! Congratulations!

The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation begun celebrating their centennial year with a reception Thursday night at their headquarters. Raider’s Garden, our school based floral shop was honored to provide the florals for the event! The Floral Design II students were involved in the entire process from brainstorming ideas to final product. They were challenged with incorporating different agricultural products into some of the designs: lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes and eggs. They had so much fun with these! They also created multiple bud vase arrangements and larger vase arrangements. We are so thankful for this unique opportunity! Check out their work in the collages below!

We are honored to share that the Appomattox County, Virginia Board of Supervisors, Town of Appomattox, and the Appomattox County Public Schools School Board all officially adopted proclamations declaring this week National FFA Week in Appomattox.

This recognition reflects the impact FFA continues to have on our students and our community — developing leadership, encouraging service, and preparing young people to make a difference long after high school.

We were also grateful for the opportunity to host members of the School Board for dinner prior to their meeting and engage in meaningful conversation about the role of FFA in promoting leadership, career readiness, and community involvement.

We appreciate the continued support of our local leaders and their investment in agricultural education and the future of Appomattox.

During our Club Day meeting today, we had the privilege of recognizing 74 members who earned their Greenhand Degree and Chapter Degree — a major milestone in their FFA journey.

These degrees represent commitment, growth, leadership, and dedication to agricultural education. Each recipient has taken important steps toward developing their knowledge, skills, and service to our chapter.

To commemorate the moment, members left their mark on a permanent mural in the agriculture department - a reminder that every class helps shape the legacy of our program.

We are incredibly proud of these students and can’t wait to see what they continue to accomplish in FFA and beyond.

🏆🎉 Ag IQ Challenge – Final Results Are In!

After three days, 45 questions, and 643 participants, we officially have a winner of the Ag IQ Challenge! 🚜🧠

🏆 Congratulations to Mr. McGowan’s Raider Room for earning the highest cumulative score and claiming this year’s championship!

Throughout the week, students at Appomattox County High explored:
🌎 How agriculture shapes culture
🏀 How sports depend on agriculture
💼 How agriculture drives jobs, policy, energy, healthcare, and innovation

This competition showed that agriculture isn’t just farming — it’s food, fuel, fashion, medicine, technology, and leadership.

A special thank you to our generous sponsors who made the prize package possible:
🦅⭐ Loose Shoe Two – Eagle’s Circle Sponsor
🔵 J & R Industrial Rigging – National Blue Level Sponsor

Because of their support, our winning Raider Room is taking home a prize basket packed with delicious goodies!

We are incredibly proud of the energy, competition, and schoolwide participation throughout all three days. 643 students and 17 staff took part in this year’s challenge — and that’s something to celebrate.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the Ag IQ Challenge a success!
