Big thanks to WBAY TV-2 for having us in the studio to talk about our first-ever Impact Report!

Fox-Wolf has been doing this work since 1991. And this year, for the first time, we've compiled the data and progress markers from all water quality sectors to provide an honest picture of what's been accomplished and what's still ahead.

Watershed recovery doesn't happen fast - it takes decades. But now we have a baseline, and every year from here, we'll be able to show exactly where we stand and how far we've come.

Going boating? Another boat wash station is now on the Winnebago system! Help protect your lakes AND keep your boat clean? Sign us up!

Thanks Calumet County!

We have are excited to announce that the boat wash station is now open at Calumet County Park! This is located by the South end dump stations near the park entrance.

The boat wash station is for boats only. The use of soaps and cleaners are prohibited. Please place any excess weeds and debris in the dumpsters. The machine takes quarters and the cost is $1 for 5 minutes of use.

Northeast Wisconsin was once covered in wetlands and marshes. When it rained, water had somewhere to go. It slowed down, soaked in, and filtered naturally before reaching our streams and lakes.
As communities grew and land was developed, much of that changed. Now when it rains hard, water moves fast, taking soil and nutrients with it and putting roads, basements, and infrastructure at risk.
The solution is giving nature room to work again. Restored wetlands, stabilized streambanks, and water storage projects are bringing that natural balance back.

Farmers feed our communities. They're also critical to the health of our rivers and lakes.
In the Fox-Wolf Basin, keeping fields covered year-round through cover crops and no-till farming is one of the most effective tools we have for reducing runoff. About 26% of agricultural acres are meeting that benchmark today, with more making the transition every year.

Planting season is well underway accross the Fox-Wolf Basin, and conservation-minded farmers are doing things a little differently. This spring, they're planting into fields that were protected with cover crops all winter long, skipping (or reducing) tillage, and applying fertilizer and manure when and where crops need it most.

These practices reduce runoff, build soil health, and protect nearby streams, often with little public recognition. Learn more about how local farmers are being water quality champions: www.fox-wolf.org/agriculture/

Water has always shaped this place.
The Fox and Wolf Rivers powered this region for thousands of years, feeding communities, driving industry, connecting people. That history is still alive today.
But growth came at a cost. Pollution, runoff, algae blooms, and decades of contamination put real pressure on our rivers and lakes. The problems didn't appear overnight and they won't disappear overnight either.
What they did do is spark something. Awareness, accountability, and a commitment to do better.
Today, farmers, municipalities, businesses, and residents across the basin are getting to work. The direction is clear. The work is real. And it's worth doing together.
