Memorial Day weekend can be incredibly heavy for many veterans, military families, first responders, and loved ones carrying the loss of friends, brothers, sisters, spouses, parents, and battle buddies who are no longer here.
While many see a long weekend, others are carrying grief, memories, survivor’s guilt, deployments, funerals, phone calls that changed everything, and the empty spaces left behind.
So this weekend, please check in on those who may be struggling silently.
Invite them over.
Sit with them.
Listen.
Let them talk about the people they miss.
Speak the names of those who are gone.
Remember them together.
🇺🇸 Memorial Day Reminders 🇺🇸
1. Memorial Day is not about celebration — it is about remembrance.
2. Honor those who gave their lives in service to this country and the families who continue carrying that loss every single day.
3. If you want to understand the meaning of Memorial Day, visit a local veterans cemetery, attend a remembrance ceremony, or simply sit and listen to someone who has experienced loss.
4. Set politics aside this weekend. Instead, remember the courage, sacrifice, and humanity of the men and women who served.
5. Many veterans and families carry invisible wounds long after the uniforms come off and the ceremonies end. Please lead with compassion and understanding.
6. Remember the fallen not only for how they died, but for how they lived, laughed, served, protected, and loved others.
7. Reach out to someone this weekend. Too many people are grieving in silence.
8. And before the BBQs, gatherings, and celebrations begin — take a moment.
Circle up.
Say a prayer.
Raise a glass to the brothers and sisters no longer here.
Honor them in silence.
Then cherish the time together.
And if you are the one struggling this weekend:
You do not have to carry it alone.
