Many of us in Central and North East Wisconsin fish the Driftless Region and Vernon County is right in the middle. When I discovered these New Zealand mud snails I felt sick and it ruined the evening’s fishing. Share this information, clean your gear or have Driftless gear and home water gear - KEEP THE MUD SNAILS OUT OF CENTRAL WISCONSIN!

Spring is here and it's time to kick-off our Annual Habitat Workdays that run from May through September co-hosted by FVTU and CWTU. May is an exciting event as we welcome the Elliott Donnelly chapter to our workday and we Celebrate the Central Sands Area and all we are doing to protect and restore the area's coldwater resources.

Our event is open to everyone and is scheduled for Saturday May 16th from 7:45am to 12:30pm. Please sign up in advance so we have a count for lunch.

Don’t miss out on the final presentation of what has been a great series!

The Hex Hatch is coming… and so is the final session of the CWTU Trout River Series.

Join us this Saturday, April 25th, 2026 at Knuth Brewing Company in Ripon from 11 AM–3 PM for a deep dive into the legendary Hexagenia hatch on the White River. Tom Meyer and Jeff Treu will lead a lively discussion on what makes this hatch so special, followed by fly tying.

During the tying session, Bob Haase will host our “Blind Bugger” contest, where brave tiers attempt to tie a woolly bu**er blindfolded.

We’ve got a bigger room this time—and as always, pizza will be available.

Good flies, good laughs, and great company—don’t miss it.
