Thanks to everyone who stopped out at our “Last Weekend of Trout Season” picnic. Good to see friends from Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and some visitors from out of state. Thx to Randy and Jim Hlaban for being our chefs! 80 degrees was a little warm for October, but we still got some fishing in on Lunch Creek, Tomorrow/ Waupaca River, and the Pine River.

This coming Thursday, October 15th, Fox Valley TU will be hosting our October 2026 Chapter Meeting. This month's guest speaker is Steve Devitt, WI DNR Fisheries Habitat Biologist and he will be discussing Redd Surveys and updating us on WI DNR Conservation & Habitat Restoration work in the Central Sands of Wisconsin. The meeting will be held at Holiday's Pub and Grill on Richmond Street in Appleton across from the Meijer Supermarket.

Social hour will start at 6pm followed by the meeting at 7pm. The meeting is available both in-person and online and details can be found at the link below:

Another Autumn Angling Adventure is winding down in the Michigan UP. A big shout out to Dark Waters Fly Shop - Seth and crew were amazing hosts and it was great to have them out at Pentoga Park campground for evening campfires and hosting us at the shop for our FVTU September chapter meeting. It was fun to catch up with friends from Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited, Trout Unlimited- Frank Hornberg Chapter, and Fred Waara Chapter Trout Unlimited and to meet up with the UW-Steven's Point Fly Fishing Club.

SAVE THE DATE! Cabin Fever Day is back this January. With our biggest show ever last year at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center with over 400 attendees, we are adding more activities to "scratch your fishing itch" over the winter.

This month's and our last habitat workday of 2026 is scheduled for September 19th at the Wild Rose Stream Habitat & Restoration Facility near Wild Rose, WI. The event will kickoff around 7:45am with coffee and donuts before splitting into teams for the workday. As always we will gather as a group for lunch. This event is open to all ages and abilities. Please preregister so we can get a headcount for lunch.

Thank you Driftless Fly Shop for reminding us to clean our gear & stop spreading New Zealand mud snails. These methods are easy but removing mud snails from a stream is impossible!

Public comment period ends on September 21st. Our public lands and fish and wildlife habitat is being under attack again. Our best offense is to advocate and let our voice be heard.

From August 13th to 16th, Wisconsin Trout Unlimited held their Annual Youth Camp. This year's camp was a huge success and introduced campers to the world of fishing for trout and how we conserve, protect, and restore our cold water resources here in Central Wisconsin. Thanks to all the TU chapters that sponsored campers and to the many volunteers that made this year's camp an awesome experience.

Check out this year's recap video to get a flavor of everything that the campers experienced. Youth aged 12-16 can apply for the 2027 youth camp by contacting their local TU chapter.
