Mighty Hearts International has three main forms of outreach to children: Clubs, Medical Missions and True Christmas. There are 800 children in over 30 clubs in Callao, Peru and the surrounding countryside. Each week children meet in their neighboorhood and are given love and support from their club leaders. Each child is given a meal and AWANA based training. Each week the children take part in o
ther fun activities as well. The club leaders also look for signs of physical and emotional abuse that are prevelent in Peru. Medical Missions volunteers set up a clinic that ministers to nearly 500 children per trip. Many of these children have never seen a doctor outside of this program, so this support is crucial. Mission teams minister to the health of the children and track their growth. In addition, guardians are given important information on nutrition, personal hygiene and psychological wellness that are important for maintaining the overall health of the child in the program. The medical mission team not only ministers to the children, but also tackles some of the root causes of health issues through these additional programs. True Christmas is a yearly event where poor children receive the True Christmas message of Jesus Christ. During the event their are games, songs, dancing and other fun activities. Most importantly children receive love from volunteers! Each child also gets chocolate milk, a Christmas cake, called Panetone and a toy. In 2010 3,000 children took part in True Christmas in 10 cities and villages aro
