It's a great idea to make volunteering and voting part of your 2024 plans, so here are some ideas to get you started. Feel free to alter these and make them specific/achievable for you: the best resolutions are ones that you can commit to and make your own.

The LU Environmental Organization runs our Intra-Campus Composting Program. Volunteer to maintain a compost bin in your residence hall and across campus. Once every two weeks you will bring the compost bucket to SLUG Garden to empty into the compost pile. By signing up, you're agreeing to take care of the compost bin for at least one term.

Once you've signed up, we'll send you an email asking for your Lawrence ID and set up a short 15-minute meeting for training. We have a lot of spots to fill and can’t keep the compost program running without your help!

If you are a member of a house/quad/loft that is not currently on the list and you would like to have a compost bin there, please email the CCE at [email protected].

Our Story

The CCE is dedicated to promoting lifelong values of commitment to service and civic engagement among Lawrence communities by serving as a source of information and support for students, faculty, staff and related organizations. Staff aims to accomplish this by: - meeting with students one-on-one - facilitating communication between student service organizations through monthly service council meetings - providing support to faculty interested in community-based engagement Activities supported by the CCE include ongoing programs such as mentoring and tutoring services within the Fox Cities area, annual events in collaboration with student organizations, and one-time service-oriented opportunities for both individuals and student organizations. Every effort is made to match volunteer interests with available service opportunities.
