All of the rain lately resulted in some flash-flooding around our area, but that didn't stop this guy from enjoying a lovely evening view. Can you guess this serene photo was taken?

Here's a hint... It's a very popular area within Fox-Wolf's Keepers of the Fox recovery area. More here: https://ow.ly/AmtL50SGBkI

It's mowing season and we love the smell of fresh cut grass!

Did you know that it's an important habit to sweep grass clippings back into your lawn and avoid leaving them on hard surfaces to be washed down the street or into a storm drain?

Here are 3 reasons why...

1.) Phosphorus found in natural and seemingly harmless things like grass clippings, when carried into our waterways via storm drains, can add to bigger problems like harmful algal blooms and even fish kills!

2.) If you sweep after mowing, the clippings will decay into your lawn and soil where the nutrients are needed, creating a healthier lawn, and healthier waterways too!

3.) You'll be protecting bicyclists and motorcyclists from a potentially hazardous slick patch of clippings on roads and sidewalks, making your neighborhood safer for everyone.

That's a clean sweep!

Winnebago Waterways and Keepers of the Fox are important Fox-Wolf regional recovery areas, and will continue to be important project areas well into the future. At Fox-Wolf we work at the scale of the entire watershed, because all of our waters are connected. A key component to our approach is engaging a wide variety of regional partners to maximize our impact and we'd like to begin communicating to our whole audience in this way.

In an effort to consolidate our communications, we will be CLOSING THIS PAGE ON AUGUST 15 and asking our audience to FOLLOW US on our Fox-Wolf social media pages.

Nothing like a super-cute puppy as a reminder to pick up your dog's waste and dispose of it in the garbage! Here are 3 reasons why you should...

1.) It's a health hazard!
Pet waste can contain harmful bacteria and parasites that can make people sick. Mowing over pet waste can also spread bacteria across your lawn.

2.) It will damage your lawn!
Pet waste is high in nitrogen, which can stress your lawn and make it susceptible to disease, wilting, and discoloration.

3.) It's bad for our waterways!
When pet waste washes into streams, rivers, and lakes carried by stormwater flowing through storm drains, it can decay and impact oxygen levels, which can harm aquatic wildlife. It can also increase w**d and algae growth.

Do your pooch and you a favor, toss pet waste in the trash where it can be properly disposed of in landfills.
