VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:
In May 2020 Lyndsay Schumacher first had the seed planted to begin the steps of starting her non profit. Since inception, many positive things have happened due to efforts of Sunshine Uganda and our ministry partners. Here are some highlights:
-A water tower and tank were installed in Bugiri that provides fresh clean water for hundreds of residents
-Teachers of Nakavule school were finally able to receive pay for their services
-A school library was installed at Nakavule school
-A nurses station was installed and fully stocked with first aid items at the school to serve students and community members
-Benches/desks were purchased for the school
-A new kindergarten building was built
-An eye glass ministry was brought to the residents of Bugiri
-A weekly mentorship program is being ran in Kampala growing from 30 kids being served to now over 70 children
-A bathroom was installed at the land where the mentorship program is being ran
-A resource library was brought to Kula ministry to help with navigating mental health and the effects of trauma
-A special needs learning program has been started to work with several kids with unique needs
The list goes on and on as God continues to provide and build relationships.
We never start something thinking of when or how it will end. Sometimes we try to keep things going in fear ending them means we’ve failed. Looking at the list of things that have happened since the start of Sunshine Uganda, I can’t believe anyone could ever think it was a failure. However, we as a board, have made the decision that the time has come to close the doors of Sunshine Uganda as a non profit. We appreciate all those who have supported us, but to be honest we don’t have the monthly support coming in that we need to keep going.
We encourage you to continue supporting our ministry partners in any way you see fit. Our partner, W***y Matts has a non profit for children who attend the school: https://bringupachild.org. Our partner, Eddie Baguma of Kula Ministry, does not have a non profit set up currently, but if you would like to support his mentorship program you can reach out to Melissa at [email protected] and she will let you know your options. We have asked our ministry partners not to reach out to our supporters on their own and to respect your privacy.
Thank you again for all the prayers and support through the years. This has been a Huge blessing and we thank God for each and every one of you!!
