Hey followers…long time no chat!

As we are winding down our time serving as Sunshine Uganda we still have some work left to do.

We have beautiful baskets and jewelry from Women of Faith that we will be selling here in the next few weeks. I’m going to do a live sale at my home in Oshkosh and after that we will list some mystery grab bags at a Huge discount. We want to bless the ladies with one final gift before by selling their beautiful handmade items!! Stay tuned for dates and times!

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:

In May 2020 Lyndsay Schumacher first had the seed planted to begin the steps of starting her non profit. Since inception, many positive things have happened due to efforts of Sunshine Uganda and our ministry partners. Here are some highlights:
-A water tower and tank were installed in Bugiri that provides fresh clean water for hundreds of residents
-Teachers of Nakavule school were finally able to receive pay for their services
-A school library was installed at Nakavule school
-A nurses station was installed and fully stocked with first aid items at the school to serve students and community members
-Benches/desks were purchased for the school
-A new kindergarten building was built
-An eye glass ministry was brought to the residents of Bugiri
-A weekly mentorship program is being ran in Kampala growing from 30 kids being served to now over 70 children
-A bathroom was installed at the land where the mentorship program is being ran
-A resource library was brought to Kula ministry to help with navigating mental health and the effects of trauma
-A special needs learning program has been started to work with several kids with unique needs

The list goes on and on as God continues to provide and build relationships.

We never start something thinking of when or how it will end. Sometimes we try to keep things going in fear ending them means we’ve failed. Looking at the list of things that have happened since the start of Sunshine Uganda, I can’t believe anyone could ever think it was a failure. However, we as a board, have made the decision that the time has come to close the doors of Sunshine Uganda as a non profit. We appreciate all those who have supported us, but to be honest we don’t have the monthly support coming in that we need to keep going.

We encourage you to continue supporting our ministry partners in any way you see fit. Our partner, W***y Matts has a non profit for children who attend the school: https://bringupachild.org. Our partner, Eddie Baguma of Kula Ministry, does not have a non profit set up currently, but if you would like to support his mentorship program you can reach out to Melissa at [email protected] and she will let you know your options. We have asked our ministry partners not to reach out to our supporters on their own and to respect your privacy.

Thank you again for all the prayers and support through the years. This has been a Huge blessing and we thank God for each and every one of you!!

This past week we had the pleasure of traveling to Uganda to visit with and work alongside our ministry partners. He if the highlights was dedicating the new kindergarten building in Bugiri. We had partnered with some amazing graduating seniors at Oshkosh West High School in order to make this happen.

These buildings are amazing and will provide classrooms for 3k, 4k, kindergarten and Primary 1.

May God bless all who enter to learn in these walls!

The kindergarten building is nearing completion and we couldn’t be more excited! What the children entering these walls will learn will change their future!

A few of us are leaving for Uganda in one week and we can’t wait to dedicate this building, hold a music class, and do VBS with our kiddos at the mentorship program!

God is So good and we see His hand in all of this coming together! Please pray for our journey..,we can’t wait to share with you all that is happening!

Happy Friday Friends!

Some of you may recall that back in March a group of graduating seniors put on a women’s brunch event to raise money for the new kindergarten building in Bugiri. Well, the building is coming along great and we got these updated pictures today!

We are traveling to Uganda in June and will get to dedicate the building at that time! What a blessing this will be for generations to come!!

The kindergarten building is coming along nicely. They delivered the rocks that will be crushed down to use for the floor and they started putting some framing up for windows!
Please join us in praying for all those sweet little kids who will be learning in this building!

We can’t wait to see what the future holds. If you’d like to donate toward what we are doing in Uganda, please visit www.sunshineuganda.com

Happy Sunday!

I wanted to share a little about our ministry partners at Kula ministry. Eddie, Joel, and the staff have been working so hard with the mentorship program. Since getting the new space they have grown from 35 kids to almost 60 kids coming weekly!

This new space is a true answer to prayer! We can’t wait to serve with them and share Gods live through our mini VBS when we go in June! Just 40 days away from our time in Uganda!

One thing we are still trying to raise money for is a big meal and cake for all the kids and staff to end our time with them. We are trying to raise $400 to make meals and snacks possible for our time with them. If you would like to help please visit our webpage: www.sunshineuganda.com where you can make a one time donation.

Thank you again for your continued support!!

Some of you may watch this and think…why is she posting a video of sticks?!?

This is much more than a pile of sticks. This is the beginning of years of learning. A shelter from rain and wind. A start to a wonderful education.

These sticks will become the lumber that will be used to build the new kindergarten building in Bugiri, Uganda!!

We can’t wait to share more as the building progresses.

We are still looking for monthly sponsors to help us provide support to our ministry partners. Please visit www.sunshineuganda.com for more information.

Happy Thursday!

I want to take time today to introduce you all to an incredible human…meet Rachel.

Rachel is a trained teacher in Uganda who saw a need with one of our ministry partners and has taken it on with huge passion. We have a couple kiddos who attend our mentorship program who have special needs which hinder them from attending school in Uganda. One of our kiddos, Benny, for instance has Downs Syndrome and is currently not verbal and not able to keep up on the studies the other kids are doing. Rachel has stepped up and volunteered to teach these kids one on one and we have seen Huge progress. Benny said her first word “Fine” just a few weeks ago and is working on pattterns and shading. Rachel has done all of this work on a volunteer basis, not expecting anything in return. She works 2-3 times per week with the kids and puts so much work into planning for her days with them.

We would Love to find Rachel a monthly sponsor. She travels to get to the area to work with these kids and is doing it all on a volunteer basis. We are looking for a $35 per month sponsor. If this is something you are feeling led to do, please reach out to me so we can get things set up. Remember your donations are tax deductible too!!
