😳🎉WHERE DID THE TIME GO?🎉😳

World Parkinson Congress 2026 was a huge success and my brain is swirling with so many things to share!

Back when registration opened many months ago, there was an opportunity to apply to be one of the 140 volunteers for the event and have your registration paid for. I knew it would be a long shot since 4000 people went, but tried anyway, and was CHOSEN!! What an amazing group of people- some with Parkinson’s, most had a current or even past family member with it, friends that had it, and even some medical professionals! We worked side by side for hours each day and it was so great to meet them and get to know their stories! Volunteering was physically challenging: 5-8 hours a day, months of training in advance, early and late days- but my soul was refreshed and renewed!!!❤️

I did get to peek into a few sessions and hear some topics of interest, but mostly my bestest, most favorite and loving care partner, Marc, got to participate, learn and take notes for me as well as go to some for himself as a care partner!!

These 4 days showed me the “World of PD” and not just my little state! I follow a lot of people and medical specialists and PD groups on Facebook- and I got to meet and interact with ALL of them through this opportunity! I also met so many new people and learned about new advances for tremors, voice enhancement, exercise, mobility issues and so much more.

Here are just a few more photos that show how meaningful this time was! (I will add another post with a few videos too!)

Wanna come with to the WPC 2029?? It will be in Quebec City, Canada!!!! 🇨🇦 Join me!

⏳⏳Day 2! Time is running out…

I am having a mind blowing time here at WPC 2026!!! So much happened today that all you get is pictures with comments!

But also, as amazing as all this is, it is exhausting and overwhelming and my PD body is rebelling against what my mind wants to do😢 I want to attend every class, lecture and talk. I want to meet every person I follow and respect on social media that has helped me walk through tough times in my journey and taught me more than my drs sometimes!! I want to be the best and most available volunteer I can be…
BUT… the reality is that by 5:30pm, I could hardly walk back to my hotel. My body was so slow, shaking and in so much pain. I got into bed and didn’t get up again except to brush my teeth. So here is my truth- and also why you only get pictures tonight😄 xo

Day 1 will be hard to beat!!!🤣🎉
-the opening ceremony had surprise messages from Carol Burnett, Marlee Matlin, Steve Carell, and Julie Andrews- all who have special connections to PD!
- met our mascot, Parky the Raccoon!
- went rock climbing with the President of UP ENDing Parkinson’s- Molly Cupka- and climbed a 55 ft wall twice!! Up ENDing Parkinsons
-met the author of a life changing book called Being Well with Chronic Illness- Kat Hill- and we had matching JOY tattoos 😄
-got to chat with Jimmy Choi - Fox Ninja, who has been such an inspiration and encouragement to Jill Firgens and I as we walk our PD journey!

So much goodness in one day! Now my body needs rest to learn more tomorrow and meet new people!😴
