Check out the talent and fun had at the 2025 series of Ukrainian Easter egg workshops at the Trout Museum of Art in Appleton this week. Thank you to all who attended. You made the experience so much fun!

It was great seeing people return two years in a row, and who came with their families and groups of friends. We appreciate those who drove 3 hours to make it to our 9am Saturday workshop! Thanks to all for the laughs, smiles, as well as prayers and support for our fundraising event to help those suffering from war trauma and addictions in Ukraine. Please pray for peace. See you next year at the Trout.

ArtFest Green Bay once again features our Ukrainian Power booth. July 20 - 21. Visit us in the Experience Art area and get free lessons in writing colorful and intricate Ukrainian Easter eggs (pysanky). Learn the history of this ancient art. Pysanka artist Sandy Dixon will be demonstrating the art of pysanky and will give you the chance to experience it yourself. Beautiful pysanky will be on sale, too.

Happy Vyshyvanka Day!

A few of us gathered to take a Vyshyvanka Day picture at Chaska golf course as the course held it's 2nd annual Ukraine Day fundraiser for Chalice of Mercy, Wisconsin's longest serving 501c3 nonprofit to provide aid to the people of Ukraine.

It was a beautiful day to enjoy the Ukrainian art of embroidery.

It's the 2nd annual Ukraine Day at Chaska Golf Course in Greenville. Chaska will be donating proceeds from today's sales to Chalice of Mercy, Wisconsin's longest serving 501c3 nonprofit to provide aid to people in Ukraine.

Aside from some light showers this morning, it was a beautiful day for golf. If you haven't been to Chaska, you'll love the course. The course was full throughout the day.

Contact Appleton Ukrainians if you'd like to bring this fun and educational Ukrainian Easter egg (pysanka) workshop to your church, school, or community event next year.

This year, all money raised through these workshops was donated to expand a Catholic Monastery in western Ukraine serving people suffering from war trauma so 18-20 more people can be housed and served to receive psychological and spiritual healing.

The pysanka has become a symbol of peace. It is traditionally thought of as a prayer. We pray for peace in Ukraine and the world.

Oh. What. Fun. Our fourth of four Ukrainian Easter egg (pysanka) workshops at the Trout Museum of Art (TMA) in Appleton was our largest group yet. We had families, co-workers who registered in December as part of a team-building event, birthdays being celebrated at this workshop and more! Everyone has a story and everyone created a pysanka that tells a story.

This group really challenged me with color theory. Lol. As a group, we experimented with combinations of dye colors to come up with some interesting results. So much fun!

Thank you to all who participated. You made the past four days so enjoyable. I like to share this art and it's history / ties to Christianity during this time leading up to Easter.

Thank you to the TMA for inviting me again this year to facilitate this workshop/ fundraiser and for donating the proceeds to the Catholic Monastery in western Ukraine serving people suffering from war trauma.

Hope to see you all at next years workshop.

A special treat tonight at our third of four Ukrainian Easter egg (pysanka) workshops at the Trout Museum of Art in Appleton.
This popular workshop features an exhibit of the late Betty Piso Christianson's pysanky. The family of this acclaimed pysanka artist joined the workshop and shared stories about Betty's passion for pysanky. Many tonight can relate and got hooked on this beautiful ancient art form. In addition to a lesson on this art, we share the history of the pysanka and of historic Ukraine.

There is one workshop left tomorrow morning from 9am to 12 noon. Drop-ins are welcome. We have 8 seats left.

TMA is donating proceeds from this workshop to a Catholic Monastery in western Ukraine which is providing spiritual and psychological healing to people suffering from war trauma. The donations are funding a repair and expansion project on the monastery grounds in the Carpathian Mountains. Beautiful place to heal. The expansion will allow 18-20 more people to be housed on site and will put in place a common kitchen for them to share meals while they engage in the programs offered.

Thanks to the museum and all participants!

(If anyone would like to donate for this project, we have a Go Fund Me set up called: West Ukraine Catholic Monastery Expansion.)

Still time to register and join in the fun tonight, Friday night, and Saturday morning. Register on the museum's website. The TMA opened up two rooms for this popular workshop this year because we sold out quickly last year. We've already hit last year's registration numbers but with the extra room can accommodate more! Bonus feature - an exhibit of the late Betty Piso Christianson's pysanky. Thanks to the family of this acclaimed pysanka artist for sharing Betty's art with us.
