From 2007 to 2011, five young men, alumni from the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan schools, lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. In 2006, Marine captain Nathanael Doring was killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq. In 2007, Marine LCPL Daniel Olsen lost his life in Iraq. US Army Ranger CPL Benjamin Kopp was mortally wounded in Afghanistan, later dying of his wounds on 18 Jul

y 2009. Almost a year to the day, US Army 1LT Christopher Goeke gave up his life in a Kandahar City firefight on 13 July 2010. In 2011, US Army CPL Andrew Wilfahrt lost his life on 27 February 2011, to an IED attack in Afghanistan. These fine young men, who chose a life of serving a greater cause, were all students of the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan schools. In an effort to pay their legacies forward, the Warrior 196 Memorial Trust is working toward building a funding stream for need-based endowments for students in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan schools whose families have affiliation with the US Military, and scholarships for graduating seniors from all four of the district high schools. Your participation in the Warrior 196 Memorial 5k Run on 29 September 2013, and/or your donation to the Warrior 196 Memorial Trust will help ‘give back and pay forward’ to the students of the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan schools, in the name of Daniel, Benjamin, Christopher, and Andrew.
