Now that Spring is here, we are all ready to start raking, planting, and mowing. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but please hold off disturbing leaves and cuting off old flower heads, some thing may be livng in there. Don't be a home wrecker!πŸ§šβ€β™‚οΈπŸπŸŒπŸ¦‹πŸž

Bald eagles usually use their nests year after year. With all these huge forest fires, nesting trees are being destroyed. If you can, plant a tall tree. In years to come, an eagle will thank you. :-)

Now that it's officially Fall, we will be having some bonfires to celebrate the season. Here's a couple of reminders about open burning. I know you folks are all very careful but just in case---

1. Check conditions: is it dry or windy? Do you need a water source?
2. Before constructing your fire keep in mind that bigger is not necessarily better. Make sure you are not too close to structures.
3. Only get close enough to roast marshmallows, not fingers.
4. When the party's over, douse the fire, stir the ashes, and douse again.
Last but not least: NEVER leave a fire unattended.

The results of the 2023 Fall Big Bird Day have been tabulated. There were 80 birds observed of 21 species. That's fifteen less species than the Spring Big Bird Day.
