Dear Scouters,

Sadly, we are writing to inform you of the passing of a legendary volunteer in the Central Florida Council. Eleanor Johnson passed away May 5th at the age of 88. She retired from Scouting in 2021 after serving, along with her late husband Bert, more than 40 years in our Council and others. She began her service, primarily in the Seminole District, in 1998. Eleanor was also well-known throughout the Council, as Chair. Of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS), providing Catholic scout religious emblems to scout members in Troops and Packs on behalf of NCCS in the Diocese of Orlando. Further, she was a member of countless review boards for Eagle Scout candidates.

Below are the viewing and funeral arrangements:

Diocese of Orlando Scout Chaplain, Very Reverend Stephen Baumann of Annunciation Catholic Church and Troop 849 is presiding.

* Viewing: Wed, May 13 at Baldwin Fairchild at 994 East Altamonte Drive from 4p-8p

* Mass: Thurs, May 14 at St. Mary Magdalen at 10a- address: 861 Maitland Ave, Altamonte Springs

* Service: Thurs, May 14 at the National Cemetery at Bushnell at 1p (last time they had that day)

Leadership built over a lifetime of service.

We’re proud to recognize Sheriff Dennis Lemma at the Seminole Golden Eagle Dinner on April 30 at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary.

With more than three decades of service to Seminole County, Sheriff Lemma has dedicated his career to protecting others and strengthening his community—rising through the ranks from correctional officer to Sheriff. Today, he leads more than 1,400 team members while also championing critical initiatives focused on opioid prevention and public safety across Florida.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and respected leader at both the state and national level, Sheriff Lemma represents the kind of character, commitment, and leadership that leaves a lasting impact.
