Excellent adult leader training:
Dear Scouting Leaders,
The Central Florida Council has a proud tradition of offering Scouting Americaโs premier adult leadership training, Wood Badge, twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Weโre excited to share that applications are now open for Wood Badge Course Directors for our 2027 courses. Itโs a great chance to lead our councilโs premier adult leadership training course and invest in the next generation of Scouting leaders.
We invite dedicated Scouters with strong training experience, a servant leaderโs mindset, and a passion to develop the trained leaders our scouts deserve to apply.
To be considered for this role, applicants must:
โข Have received the Wood Badge recognition.
โข Have served on the staff of a Wood Badge course as a troop guide and either one additional required Wood Badge staff role or in an adult National Youth Leadership Training role as a course director, Scoutmaster, or assistant Scoutmaster.
โข Be enthusiastic, open-minded, flexible, people-oriented, and committed to implementing a Wood Badge course in a positive manner.
โข Be a role model and well-respected Scouter with significant Scouting America leadership experience who exemplifies the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
โข Have extensive experience in several Scouting programs as either a volunteer Scouter or a Scouting America professional.
โข Have demonstrated the ability to train, to counsel, and to perform the specific skills, duties, and responsibilities of the assigned position.
โข Have served in no more than four Wood Badge courses.
To apply, please submit a cover letter sharing why youโre interested in serving as Course Director and how your experience and leadership have prepared you for this role, along with your Scouting resume outlining relevant Scouting roles, Wood Badge staff experience, and other leadership and training service. Please email your application materials to [email protected] by Friday, December 12, 2025.
Thank you for all you do for Scouting, and for considering this important leadership role. Weโre excited to hear from enthusiastic candidates who are ready to help carry forward our councilโs Wood Badge legacy.
Yours in Cheerful Service,
Yiorgos A. Bakamitsos
