And that’s a wrap for the 13th Annual Alaskan Halibut adventure in Seward, AK. The scenery, fishing, camaraderie and food exceeded any and all expectations. HUGE thank you and great appreciation to Captain John Moline, American Legion Post 5, Wes Oetinger, Mrs Corrina Bea and the WWIA Foundation for all the unbelievable memories made. Each Warrior went home with 100 # of clean, frozen, vacuum-sealed fish fillets, and memories to last a life time.

We are blessed to have a community of patriotic supporters across this country who ardently work behind the scenes to make our mission possible. Their efforts are not for fanfare or recognition, but for the shared goal of honoring, serving, and bringing healing and connection to our Heroes lives. The 13th Annual Alaska Halibut event is under way and despite high winds and rain, the experience has been fantastic. Warriors have been landing rockfish, red salmon, halibut and cod. From fishing the many rivers to fishing out of a 28-ft Osprey boat, the backdrop is breath taking. Moose, mountain goats, otters, sea lions, humpback whales, eagles are everywhere. This experience is one these Purple Heart recipients will never forget …and it’s only day three!

Today marks the arrival of the 13th Annual Alaska Halibut Fishing Event in beautiful Seward, Alaska. Anyone that’s flown into Anchorage will recognize the beautiful brown bears welcoming them to Alaska. Warriors from Texas, South Carolina, Arkansas and Minnesota are now in the land of the Last Frontier. All Warriors, as well as their Michigan native WWIA Guide/Associate, savored incredible steak and potato dinners at Seward’s American Legion Post 5. What an incredible welcome and start to a memorable Alaskan experience!
Tomorrow, Warriors will try their hand at river fishing for red salmon!

As our combat-wounded Purple Heart Heroes embark on another unforgettable adventure in the breathtaking Last Frontier, we're taking a moment to look back at some of the incredible memories made during past Alaska missions. From epic catches and stunning scenery to lasting friendships and moments of healing, these experiences embody what WWIA is all about.

It is hard to find the right words to describe our time at the 2nd annual Montauk NY fishing event. The food was great, the fishing was amazing but more than all that, the opportunity each hero had to Honor, Connect and Heal has left us all in a better place than when we arrived. Thank you to our host Scott Paternoster and all his good friends/volunteers.
