Apex Sunrise Rotary Club

The Apex Sunrise Rotary Club meets Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. at IHOP Beaver Creek, 1150 Beaver Creek Commons, Apex.

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

First
The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service

Second
High ethical standards in business and professions: the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an oppo

rtunity to serve society. Third
The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business and community life:

Fourth
The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional men united in the ideal of service.

At this week's meeting we welcomed Shannon Cox and Chris Watson from Town of Apex Government Planning Department to share the latest long-term plans for future development in Apex. Lots of great information was provided on the future of Apex.

As a thank you, we are donating a book to the library of an elementary school in Apex in their names.

At this week's meeting we welcomed the two newest members of Apex Town Council; Sue Mu and Shane Reese. They shared their impression on their first few months on Town Council, some of their goals and and priorties.

At this week's meeting we welcomed Dr. Doris Bullock from Arise Collective who shared the work the organization does to equip women with the tools and support they need to heal, grow, and thrive, both in prison and in the communities to which they return. For many women, it's a tough transition.

As a thank you, we are donating a book in her name to an elementary school in Apex.

We had a capacity crowd as we welcomed Emily Odjaghian from the Lucy Daniels Center this morning. The Lucy Daniels Center helps children live emotionally healthy lives through in-depth evaluation and treatment, family involvement, and education.

Emily outlined some success stories and shared their approach to treating children with a variety of issues.

So glad we could honor the legacy of our former Club President Tom Haynie in this way. He left quite an impact and we are grateful. Rotary District 7710

In honor of Tom Haynie legacy, Apex Sunrise Rotary, Apex Rotary, and the Haynie family came together to donate $10,000 to Ronald McDonald House of the Triangle, honoring his commitment to service, community, and 56 years with McDonald’s as an employee and owner/operator made this gift especially meaningful.

This week we welcomed Michelle Drabek and Jennifer Merritt from Made4Me. They are a Raleigh-based nonprofit that designs and builds custom adaptive equipment for children and young adults with unique abilities, helping them participate more fully in everyday life. Michelle shared some great stories on how they have come up with some creative solutions.
