BRINGING CONSERVATION TO THE CLASSROOM! The Rays of Gratitude Conservation Education Program is all about teaching the next generation how to care for our Earth. Through hands-on activities and interactive lessons, we’re helping students in local schools connect with nature and learn how to protect our planet. Each session empowers young minds to become positive change in their own communities. Thank you to our amazing educators and team members who make this possible!

There will never be enough words to thank everyone for their continued support in Hurricane Helene Relief. Needs are always changing, and Asheville has reached freezing temperatures overnight. With a few more supplies coming in, as well as some clothing donation, we were able to help distribute items to families who lost everything and people who are really struggling. TEAM MEMBER HIGHLIGHT. This week, we’re highlighting our Chief Financial Officer, Joe Thorvig. After graduating with Finance and Accounting degrees, Joe spent the first half of his professional career in public and corporate accounting. Now, he manages contingent worker programs, specializing in support of the Healthcare and Finance industries. Joe’s family is the highlight and most important thing in his life. His three girls, his wife Karrie or 16 years, and his two awesome daughters - Kennedy, 9 and Reagan, 6 - are just THE BEST. Joe loves sports - playing, coaching, watching, and cheering, and his hobbies include golf, fishing (summer and winter), and traveling and exploring with his wife and daughters. From Joe: “I have had the pleasure of being the CFO seat with Rays of Gratitude for just over a year. I love Rays, it is an organization that makes the world a better place through ocean conservation and general support of humankind. It is a blessing to be able to be a part of an organization that is rooted in being a light for our world.”

TEAM MEMBER HIGHLIGHT. This week, meet our Chief Marketing Officer, Sarah Anne Hamilton Ryan! Sarah Anne helped start Rays of Gratitude back in the summer of 2023 with our CEO, Cori. Sarah Anne has a background in fine art and graphic design. She designed our Rays of Gratitude logo and designs all of our marketing materials. When she isn’t working with Rays or Gratitude, she runs her own business, Art & Design by Sarah Anne Ryan, where she privately teaches art and graphic design to students around the country, and sells her own original artwork in galleries and markets. She loves being in her garden (she holds a degree in sustainable agriculture), baking, and snuggling with her five rescue pets. On the weekends, you can find her picking up goodies from her favorite bakery and wandering around antique stores.

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to our Hurricane Helene Relief Supply Drive. Together, we sent her $6,000 in supplies to Western NC and Eastern TN. As recovery continues, needs are changing. We are shifting our efforts to fundraising for generators and camping stoves for those who are still without power. An important part of turtle conservation is tagging and tracking. Catching sea turtles allows us to measure growth, track migration patterns, and observe other behaviors. Along with UVI and the Hawksbill Project, we’ve been able to help collect valuable data in the journey for sea turtle conservation.
