๐Ÿพ Housing Help Needed for SGI Cat Allies Volunteers ๐Ÿพ

SGI Cat Allies is planning a major spay/neuter and vaccination effort on St. George Island, and we are looking for housing for our dedicated volunteers.

๐Ÿ“… Dates needed:
Friday, February 13 โ€“ Tuesday, February 17, 2026
(5 nights total)

๐Ÿก What weโ€™re looking for:
โ€“ A small house, condo, or guest cottage
โ€“ Clean, safe, and close to SGI if possible
โ€“ Can be one location or split among hosts
โ€“ Quiet evenings (long TNVR days!)

Our volunteers donate their time, energy, and hearts to help control the cat population humanely and responsibly. Providing housing is one of the most impactful ways to support this lifesaving work.

If you have space available, know someone who might, or would like more details, please message us directly or comment below.

Thank you for supporting TNVR and the people who make it possible ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฑ

FRANKLIN COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY PET OF THE WEEK

Rose is a 2-3 yr old German Shepherd mix and couldn't be sweeter. She is happy and gentle and loves her walks. Rose is a smart and affectionate girl with an open and expressive face. We can't think of a better way to start your new year than adopting our Rose!

We are always looking for people willing to bring one of our animals into their home to be fostered for various needs.

Any time you can spare would be greatly appreciated.

Call Karen at 670-8417 for more details or visit the Franklin County Humane Society at 244 State Road 65 in Eastpoint.

You may logon to the website at www.forgottenpets.org to see more of our adoptable pets.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Weโ€™re saying it AGAINโ€ฆbecause some folks still arenโ€™t getting it:
๐Ÿšซ You canโ€™t โ€œget ridโ€ of community cats.
๐Ÿ˜ผ You can only FIX them.

People love to shout:
โ€œI just want them gone!โ€

But hereโ€™s what actually happens when you do that:
๐ŸŒช๏ธ Remove the cats
๐Ÿ— Food is still there
๐Ÿ›– Shelter is still there
๐Ÿ“ Territory is still there
โžก๏ธ New cats show up
โžก๏ธ They have kittens
โžก๏ธ Problem starts RIGHT BACK OVER

Weโ€™re not making this up.
It even has a name: ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐•๐š๐œ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐„๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ž๐œ๐ญ.
Nature does NOT leave a comfy spot empty.
TNVR doesnโ€™t create colonies, it CALMS them.

Fix the cats already living there and you get:
โœจ No kitten explosion
โœจ Less screaming, spraying, and fighting
โœจ Healthier vaccinated cats
โœจ Less wildlife drama + pest control built-in
โœจ Happier neighbors & caretakers
โœจ Peace. Actual peace.

Remove = Replace ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ› ๐Ÿˆ
โœ‚๏ธ Fix = Stability

So when someone says:
โ€œNope, they need to go.โ€

Show them this truth:
Cats arenโ€™t the problem.
Unfixed cats are.

You want the chaos to stop? SNIP IT. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

Yes!

Yes!

Fact: Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the most humane and effective method known for managing unowned, free-roaming cats.

Why? Decades of practices such as feeding bans, leash laws, or even euthanasia have failed to stem overpopulation and reduce the flow of cats and kittens into shelters.

Communities with robust TNR programs consistently see substantial reductions in shelter intake and euthanasia. Spaying and neutering can also eliminate nuisance behaviors and keep cats healthier and less likely to transmit diseaseโ€”making TNR the best option for cats and their communities!
