How we began: During an well-attended meeting held in the Anza Community Hall on Sunday, July 8, 2012, hundreds of Anza Valley property owners demanded resolution to land use issues and complaints about the County of Riverside Code Enforcement policies, practices, and personnel. There was discussion about forming a group to help the property owners in the Anza Valley and its territories. One month
later, during the Anza Valley Municipal Advisory Council (AVMAC) meeting on 8 August 2012 at the community Hall there was more discussion about the land use problems in the Valley. At that point, the citizens wanted and County of Riverside, 3rd District Supervisor acknowledged that a group was being formed to help the citizens of the Valley. It was also discussed that this committee may be could assist our citizens in the resolution of their concerns, and that this committee will work hand-in-hand with the AVMAC. However, the County does not recognize the AVPORT and the AVMAC will not cooperate with the AVPORT. Therefore, we stand alone to help the citizens in the Anza Valley and its territories. We formed a board in August and held our first meeting on September 4, 2012. We established leadership positions, business rules, and a mission and vision for the Team. We continue to meet as we develop the Team and begin to assist Anza Valley property owners. What we do: We conduct formal meetings to discuss AVPORT business as it relates to serving the citizens of the Anza Valley and its territories. We have established business rules, the AVPORT website, the AVPORT page, an email account, a mailing address, a local phone number, and a method to handle its fiduciary responsiblities relative to the proper use of donations. We assist Anza Valley property owners who have asked for our assistance. Who we serve: We serve the property owners of the Anza Valley and its territories. Anza Valley and its territories include properties serviced by the Anza Electric Cooperative for electrical utilities.
