We provide food assistance to families and seniors, online and in-person English classes, and support to finding other needed resources.

Our Food Pantry is a place to meet the temporary food needs of families and seniors who are struggling to make ends meet. The ESL classes are taught to individuals who need to improve their speaking, writing and overall knowledge of English and American culture. Our vision is to build a community where everyone can thrive. The Branch is a place of life and hope and a place where the love of Jesus is poured out to all.

The only thing bigger than this donation? The hearts of the people bringing it! 💚

We can't say thank you enough to the kind folks of Ethos Church who brought a whole crew to drop off more than 10,000 POUNDS of donated food and supplies for neighbors at The Branch!

Donations like this have real impact- more older adults not skipping meals, more parents who don't have to worry about stretching food to payday, more kids not going to bed hungry.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the kind people of Ethos Church!

When we think of hospitality, we often think of opening our homes, hosting gatherings, or sharing a meal. But biblical hospitality goes deeper.

The Greek word philoxenia means “love of the stranger.” Scripture calls us to welcome strangers, care for the vulnerable, and love those who may have nothing to offer in return.

Hebrews 13:2 even reminds us that, in showing hospitality to strangers, some have entertained angels without knowing it.

What if we treated every stranger as someone worthy of that kind of welcome?

At The Branch, our faith determines WHY we serve, not WHO we serve.
And our WHY is simple:

Every human being is made in the image of God.
Every human being is loved by God.
Every human being has inherent dignity and worth.
No exceptions. No prerequisites.

We are all neighbors. And everyone belongs.

We may not recognize an angel among us, but we can choose every day to recognize the image of God in everyone.

In 2017, Nashville's Metro Council declared the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day.

In their legislative resolution, the Metro Council "recognizes the fact that Nashville is built upon the homelands and villages of the Indigenous Peoples of this region including the Shawnee, Cherokee, Choctaw" and "values the many contributions made to our community through Indigenous Peoples' knowledge, labor, technology, science, philosophy, arts and the deep cultural contributions that have shaped the character of the City of Nashville."

Today, we want to tell our Indigenous neighbors, we see you. We honor your rich histories, your strong cultures, and the remarkable resilience you have demonstrated during so many years of displacement and struggle.

At The Branch, we believe that being a good neighbor begins with seeing, honoring, and respecting one another. Our histories may be different, but everyone deserves dignity, belonging, and a community where they are valued. No matter where we were born, what culture we come from, we share this city, and we are all neighbors.

One of the special things about The Branch is that we have volunteers of every age; it is always inspiring to see young people who are being taught the value of giving back to the community!

For many people, an unexpected medical bill or replacing a tire isn't big deal.

But for more than 40% of our neighbors, just one unexpected expense could force them into a crisis situation. Replacing a tire might mean they can't fill their prescriptions. Missing a shift at work to take care of a sick child might mean the parents have to skip some meals to stretch the grocery budget.

Our Be the Light event happened last week, but the needs of our neighbors are as pressing as ever. It's not too late for you to choose to Be the Light and donate to the work of The Branch!

We'd also love for you to consider joining our Giving Tree. These dedicated folks provide consistent monthly support that The Branch can count on. Some people give $25 a month, some $100, and some even more than that.

That matters because our neighbors’ needs don’t happen only during fundraisers. Families need food every week. Older adults need deliveries. English learners need classes and support. Neighbors facing a crisis need someone ready to help.

Monthly giving gives The Branch the stability to keep showing up- not just when there is an emergency, but every day.

This week, we’ve shared what it means to Be the Light. Last night, we gathered for our Be the Light fall fundraiser. And as our CEO, Melissa Thomas, began to speak, we turned out the lights and the room went dark.

Melissa shared what it means to choose to be the light in the lives of our neighbors. Then, one by one, each person in the room lit a tiny candle. 🕯

One small light may not seem like much. But as more candles were lit, the darkness began to disappear. 🌄

That’s what happens when a community comes together. 💚

At The Branch, being the light can look like a cart full of groceries for a family who needs food. An English class that opens doors to new opportunities. Walking alongside a neighbor through a crisis. Delivering groceries to an older adult. Offering dignity, care, connection, and hope.

None of us has to light up the whole world. We simply have to bring the light we have.

As we wrap up our Be the Light fundraiser, we’re asking you to Be the Light for your neighbors.

We are so thankful for the wonderful folks at Publix who brought a big group of their employees to volunteer at The Branch! They came in, helped in the pantry, and did a bunch of cleaning- the best cleaning crew we've ever had! 😃

And they didn't just bring their smiles and hard work! Joe, district manager for Publix Middle Tennessee, and Lisa, store manager at the Westlawn Publix in Murfreesboro, presented a donation check to our CEO, Melissa Thomas. Every dollar we receive ensures that more neighbors can receive the support they need.

We are so glad to have a partner like Publix- they donate food to us, send us wonderful volunteers, AND make financial gifts. They are so invested in our work here, and it means a lot!

We’ve done a lot of sharing this week about what it means to Be the Light. We chose this theme for our fall fundraiser very intentionally. Because in a world that can feel dark, we all have an opportunity to Be the Light right where we are- helping a neighbor, volunteering, or simply choosing to show up for someone who needs support.

At The Branch, we see every day what happens when people choose to be that light for one another.

And the need doesn’t end when the fundraiser does. So we'd be grateful if you would consider a donating to our work at The Branch, or choosing to join the Giving Tree, our community of monthly supporters.

Monthly support helps us be ready- not just for one moment, but every day- for the neighbor who needs groceries, the family facing an unexpected crisis, the student learning English, or the older adult who needs someone to walk alongside them.
