The Branch of Nashville

The Branch of Nashville We provide food assistance to families and seniors, online and in-person English classes, and support to finding other needed resources.

Our Food Pantry is a place to meet the temporary food needs of families and seniors who are struggling to make ends meet. The ESL classes are taught to individuals who need to improve their speaking, writing and overall knowledge of English and American culture. Our vision is to build a community where everyone can thrive. The Branch is a place of life and hope and a place where the love of Jesus is poured out to all.

Have you ever considered that the person who speaks broken English and is stocking shelves in your local warehouse might be a doctor?!

Our friend Augustin was almost done with medical school when circumstances forced him to flee his country and become a refugee.

Despite the challenging circumstances life has thrown at him, Augustin is working hard, learning English, and determined to return to his dream of working in the medical field.

Augustin, we believe you can do it, and we're here to cheer you on every step of the way. We are so glad to have you as part of our family at The Branch. You belong here. 💚

If you look around when you visit The Branch, you will probably notice carts of groceries or students attending English classes; but there's even more that happens behind the scenes.

Our Comprehensive Care program focuses on holistic well-being, and walking alongside our neighbors as they work toward achieving their goals. There's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution; every individual and family has their own dreams, strengths, and challenges.

One neighbor at a time. One step at a time. Celebrating every small win together and reminding our community that we're here for the long haul.

Hope isn't always something you can physically see. It often happens quietly, behind the scenes: but it is real. And at The Branch, hope lives here.

As we continue to celebrate our immigrant and refugee neighbors during the month of June, we want to continue to share facts and information about all the incredible contributions these neighbors make to our community.

Immigrant and refugee neighbors are a vibrant part of our workforce in Tennessee and all across the nation. They are business owners and entrepreneurs; doctors and nurses; teachers and construction workers. Did you know Google, eBay, and Yahoo were all founded by immigrants?

We want our immigrant and refugee neighbors to know that we see you. We see all the hard work, determination, and positivity you bring to our city. We see all the ways you show up in your jobs, homes, and schools.

No matter what job you do, no matter what country you came from- we see your value, your dignity, and your worth. You are welcome here, and you belong here. 💚

As we celebrate our immigrant and refugee neighbors this month, we are reminded that every person brings gifts, experiences, culture, and dreams that make our community stronger.

Today, we are honored to share Virak’s story — a story of courage, hope, and beginning again.

Behind every label and every story is a person. A person with dignity, worth, and so much to offer to the world.

Virak, we are grateful you are here and part of our family at The Branch. You belong here. 💚

Take a look at these images we are sharing- you may have heard some of these statements before.

This month, as we honor and celebrate our immigrant and refugee neighbors, we’re taking time to gently correct some common myths and share what’s true.

Behind every label, headline, statistic, and assumption is a person — a parent, child, student, employee, friend, and neighbor. A person created by God and beloved by Him.

Because every person deserves to be seen with dignity.
Every story deserves to be heard with compassion.
And every neighbor deserves safety, welcome, and a place to belong.

You belong here. 💚

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to The Branch for the unveiling of The Art of Belonging project! We are so thrilled to have these beautiful paintings to cover our industrial fencing in the food pantry.

Many thanks to our lead artist, Damian Martinez, for heading up this project and creating these beautiful canvases for our community to paint. You can follow Damian on social media to see more of his artwork: Demian Mart

Every day, when we see these pieces of artwork displayed in our building, we will be reminded of all the many hands that painted together, the strength and diversity of our South Nashville community, and the beauty of belonging. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what your story is, you belong here. 💚

As The Branch continues celebrating our immigrant and refugee neighbors through the month of June, we wanted to share an interview we did with one of our English students, Lucía.

We would love for you to take a moment and read Lucía's story. Imagine yourself in her shoes. Imagine what it would take to start completely over, in a new country, with a new language, a new culture, different ways of doing things.

Away from your extended family, friends, and everything you have ever known. An advanced degree that can no longer be used- years of professional experience that no longer count, because you are starting over as an entry level worker.

We celebrate Lucía's journey, and the hard work she and her family have invested in making a new life in our community.

Her story is a reminder that while our journeys may look different, we have far more in common than we often realize. We all want safety, dignity, purpose, belonging, and a better future for the people we love.

At The Branch, we believe every person carries immeasurable worth. Every neighbor has a story. Every story matters. And every human being deserves to be seen, valued, and welcomed. No matter who you are, you belong here. 💚
