Hi Oakwood Knolls Families,

The past 2 years, 2024 and 2025, we did not have an active youth program. We are putting the feelers out now, to see how many would be interested in joining our Youth Program if we were to run the program in 2026.

Hello Families of OKPOA! We're trying something new in Oaks and Acorns for the 2023 year!

This year Oaks and Acorns will be FREE for OKPOA members. (Opportunities to donate funds and/or time will be presented throughout the year for families that wish to.)

The whole family is welcome at these events! This will be a group that is focused on families with kids meeting other families with kids, making new friends and giving the kiddos something fun to do!

Instead of scheduling a monthly event, we'll be scheduling 4 playdates throughout the year where families can come to the park to meet other families, play with other kids and enjoy some planned kid activities. Ideas are still in the planning stage, but there's been talk of continuing the popular pumpkin decorating, having a beach party and a family movie night! If anyone is interested in organizing play date events, in addition to the 4 we plan to do, please reach out! You come up with the activity, spearhead the event, and we'll help get the word out!

For their November meet up Oaks & Acorns had a baking party! They made cookies for the Blessing Box to hand out at their food drive event tomorrow! They did a great job and even got to taste test! 🍪

We have some BUMMER news...

We found out last week that Green Tree Plastics-ABC Partnership will be closing at the end of the month due to the owners retiring. This is the company and program we were working with to collect caps to trade in for a new park bench. At this point we have not completed our cleaning and sorting and they are already booked solid with drop off appointments for the remainder of the month. We have searched and searched for an alternative company, but have not found one. We're unfortunalty going to have to discontinue this project. If you have caps that you've been saving we spoke with GROOT and you can place them in your recycle bin. They will accept them.

Thank you to eveyone who helped collect caps, clean, and sort. We were really looking forward to trading in for our new park bench. We'll be looking into other programs and bench options for the near future. Watch for updates!

The Oaks and Acorns kids enjoyed their Tour of Antioch this morning! Thank you to Station 51 Truck Company Bar & Grill, Something Sweet, Antioch Fine Arts Foundation, The Lodge of Antioch, and the Antioch Theatre for welcoming us and being a part of our adventure! We learned about the amazing and authentic decor at Station 51, saw a cotton candy demo (with some taste testing), saw a paint pouring demo during an art class, had a pizza party and got a behind the scenes tour of the theater with some popcorn of course! What a fun day for the kiddos!

Ever wonder what 170lbs of plastic caps looks like? Well here’s your answer! We’ve cleaned/organized 170lbs of caps so far! 80 more pounds to go! At this point we believe we have enough caps collected. We just need to clean and organize the rest before we can deliver and trade in for our new park bench!
