The Disable America Veterans (DAV) are holding their Brat Fry fund raiser at Antigo Pick-n-Save on the 4th and 5th of September 2026. They will also be distributing the DAV Forget-Me-Not flowers.

Karl's Transport and their graphics team just completed another trailer honoring one of our local men killed in the Republic of Vietnam.
2nd Lt. Thomas E. Dobrinska, U.S. Army, was recognized for his bravery during several missions he and his platoon were conduting that involved heavy enemy firefights. The last in which he signal handedly took out an automatic weapons position that was devastating his platoon. He was mortally wounded during this action and later died of his wounds on February 10th 1968.
He was posthumsly awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars and the Purple Heart. The Distinguished Service Cross is one step below the Medal of Honor. 🇺🇲

The Commander's Award Committee was honored to acknowledge a member of the VFW Post 2653 and their contributions to the values and purpose of the organization.
SVC Benishek had the distinguished privilege to recognize a former Post Quartermaster Steve Bradley for his past accomplishments. Steve Bradley's performance of duty enabled the Veterans of Foreign Wars to continue as a great force for good in the Community State and Nation.
The award was presented at a monthly DAV meeting.🇺🇲

The Central Wisconsin Military Show and 4x4 Show is being held on the 14th & 15th of August. Whether you're a military buff or a 4x4 enthusiasts or just curious, there will be something of interest.
The VFW Post 2653 will have a booth out there as well. Come check it out. 🇺🇲

☆ VETERAN MEMORIAL MURAL ☆
Danna Gabriel is a local artist who is designing and putting together a mural of an American flag 🇺🇲 made of tiles. It will be composed of veterans portraits, names and memories, with a hand-mosaick blue field. The mural will be displayed inside the Bradley Funeral Home. (See details below)
The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Langlade County Chapter #23 will receive a $15 donation from each tile sold.

On behalf of the Leland Tollefson VFW Post 2653, SVC James Benishek and Adjutant Mike Piller met with Melanie Rinehart at her work place, the Antigo Walgreens.
We were privileged to present a Certificate of Recognition in appreciation for the MacDonald family and their very substantial contribution to our Post, which was in memory of James O. MacDonald a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and VFW Post 2653 Life Member.
A Certificate of Commendation was also [Posthumously] awarded to the family for James O. MacDonald's exceptional service as a VFW Life Member. He distinguished himself as the Post Adjutant of Post 2653 for many years. His strong initiative and leadership skills were crucial to the successful VFW mission.
RIP Comrade 🇺🇲
