This final month of summer is rather eclectic — it’s been a lot of behind-the scenes work (preparing spaces and programming for the fall!), and there have been some fun things to celebrate this August!

🗳️ Seeing the ‘I Voted’ stickers in action at the mid-term elections
🛠️ Working on our building, refreshing the space
🎭 Holding auditions for the upcoming fall play
🎁 Receiving a generous grant from the Kansas Masonic Foundation, thanks to our local lodge’s sponsorship
✂️ Testing out art projects for fall programming
🎭 Leading a private improv session for a local business
❤️ Receiving kind recognition from the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter

Joyce Kaup and Phyllis Anderson (not pictured) stopped by this month’s Arts Center board meeting, representing the Martha Vail Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). They came to present Director Juliana Whisman with an award for community service, recognizing her work serving the Harper County community and making a difference through the arts. What a sweet honor that they served with some very kind words (and some delicious banana bread!)!

The Arts Center is pleased to announce the cast list for ‘Suite Surrender’! 🌴🎭🍸

Our team was absolutely wowed by all the talent and heart we saw at auditions and call-backs. The amount of bravery it takes to stand up on stage and audition is tremendous, and we’re so proud of all of you! ❤️ Please know that this could have gone a number of ways, and we honestly have agonized over this for days. For those not cast, we hope you will continue to show up and audition, and we do have some alternate ways you can get involved in this show.
