80 Years of Heart, Hands, and Heritage: Celebrating the Anthony Woman's Club
Friends, neighbors, and sisters in service,
Today we stand in the glow of 80 years.
Eighty years of the Anthony Woman's Club.
Eighty years of women showing up. Eighty years of casseroles carried to grieving families, of scholarships placed in the hands of nervous graduates, of flags placed at the cemetery on Memorial Day, of bake sales and bazaars and fundraisers that seemed small at the time but added up to a mountain of good.
When this Club was first gathered in Anthony, Florida, a group of women sat around a kitchen table with a simple belief: that a small community becomes a strong community when women link arms and get to work. They had no social media, no big budgets, no spotlight. What they had was time, talent, and a stubborn love for this place we call home.
And look what that love has built.
For eight decades, this Club has been the quiet backbone of Anthony. We have fed the hungry when times were lean. We have clothed children for the first day of school. We have supported our veterans, honored our teachers, preserved our history, and opened our clubhouse doors to anyone who needed a place to meet, to mourn, to celebrate, to organize.
We have been the keepers of tradition and the drivers of progress, often at the same time. We planted flowers on Main Street and we planted ideas in young minds. We saved recipes and we saved lives through service projects and donations. We laughed until we cried at meetings, and we cried together when our community hurt.
The faces have changed over 80 years, but the spirit has not.
It is the spirit of the founding members who believed service was not an event, it was a way of life. It is the spirit of the women who came before us whose names are on our charter, on our plaques, in our minutes books, and forever in our hearts. It is the spirit of every woman who has ever worn the name Anthony Woman's Club on her chest and meant it.
To our past presidents, our committee chairs, our volunteers who set up tables before sunrise and stayed late to sweep floors, thank you. You built this legacy one meeting, one project, one act of kindness at a time.
To our current members, thank you for carrying the torch. In a world that moves fast and often forgets to look back, you choose to stay rooted and to serve. You are proving that sisterhood is not an old-fashioned word. It is a living force.
And to the young women and girls of Anthony who are watching us today, we are saving a seat for you.
This Club will need your voice, your energy, and your vision for the next 80 years. We are not done. There are still families to help, students to support, history to preserve, and community to build.
Eighty years is not just a number. It is a testimony.
A testimony that when women come together with purpose, a small town can do mighty things.
So today we celebrate with gratitude and with pride. We celebrate every hour volunteered, every dollar raised, every life touched. We celebrate Anthony, Florida, and the incredible women who have loved it well for eight decades.
Happy 80th Anniversary to the Anthony Woman's Club. May our hands stay busy, our hearts stay open, and our sisterhood stay strong for 80 more.
