Our Crop Plot Committee scouted fields yesterday to check for common post-emergence issues with Kyle Schlechty from Nutrien Ag Solutions.
It was determined that our corn is at stage V2, and 98% stand which is fantastic. Being planted on April 23rd, the crop was given the optimal chance for maximum yield potential. Although sparse, they discussed w**d ID along with different modes of action. Kyle stated that "when scouting, you don't just look at the current crop, look at the residue from the previous years to see what other issues they might have had."
The wheat was staged at Feeks 10.5.1. It was recently sprayed with a fungicide to prevent diseases such as fusarium head blight which could lead to vomotoxins that causes yield loss and are dangerous for both animals and humans.
We will continue scouting and learning as the growing season moves forward!
A big thank you goes out to Justin Rowland for planting, Shane Peters for tillage work, Kyle Schlechty for scouting with us today, and Nutiren Ag Solutions for donating both chemicals and seed.
