As Congress negotiates the federal budget, Minnesota's congressional delegation must hear directly from us.

Federal funding plays a critical role in supporting schools across Minnesota, especially in rural and under-resourced communities. These funds help provide:

*Special education services for students with diverse needs
*Academic support and tutoring for struggling learners
*Career and technical education programs that prepare students for real jobs
*Resources for schools serving low-income families

The Trump administration has threatened to cut $86 million, over 17 percent of the total budget, from Minnesota schools. If this budget passes, our schools will have to:

*Cut teachers and staff, making class sizes larger
*Eliminate essential programs for rural schools, English language learners, and afterschool
*Increase the burden on already stretched local taxpayers
*School closures and consolidations

Public schools are one of the few places in our country where every child belongs.

They welcome students from every background, every neighborhood, and every kind of family. They serve students with disabilities, students learning English, students facing hardship, and students with every kind of strength, need, and dream.

That is what strong communities are supposed to do. We make room for one another. We give every child the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a good life.

Strong public schools give children the knowledge, support, relationships, and opportunities they need to succeed. They strengthen families, bring communities together, and open doors that might otherwise remain closed.

Public schools are both the promise and the foundation of the American Dream.

What is happening in Anoka-Hennepin is not unique.
It is happening across Minnesota and across the country.
Public schools are being pushed to the breaking point. National narratives have created distrust in our schools, our educators, and our communities. Those stories are being used to justify starving public education of the resources our kids need.

So what do we do here in Minnesota?

First, we use the tools we have locally. Right now, that means organizing in our own districts to stabilize our schools, protect students, support educators, and make sure our communities have a voice.

But it cannot stop with Anoka-Hennepin. or with Robbinsdale.
The problem is not only local. State and federal funding systems are failing to fund our schools at the level our kids need and deserve. We need to build power across school districts so parents, caregivers, educators, students, and community members can go to the state together and demand that lawmakers prioritize public education.

We also need to demand that the federal government make good on its promise to fully fund special education.

We are not doing this alone. We are coordinating with organizations across the country that are fighting for strong public schools and standing up against the attacks on public education.
But this only works if people raise their hands.

We need your help.
Yes, you. Seriously, you.
If you are in Anoka-Hennepin, we need you with us.
If you are outside Anoka-Hennepin, we need you to raise your hand and say, โ€œIโ€™m in.โ€

You can help grow parent and community leadership in your own district. You can help bring people together. You can help build the kind of power our schools need.

We are the ones.

Strong Schools.
Strong Families.
Strong Communities.

Parents for Good is a parent-led organization growing parent and community leadership to support strong public schools across Minnesota.

We believe public schools are the heart of our communities. They bring children, families, educators, neighbors, and local leaders together around a shared commitment to the common good.

Parents for Good works with parents and community members to grow local leadership, build teams, host conversations, support educators and students, and advocate for the safe, supportive, well-funded schools our children deserve.

Our public schools belong to all of us. When parents and community members organize together, we can make sure every district has the community support it needs to protect and strengthen public education.
