The family of Joseph E. Buehler III, LVC Class of 1989 and former Flying Dutchmen Football head coach, is saddened to announce that he passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Buehler launched his coaching career in the high school ranks. He spent 15 seasons guiding high school student-athletes at Palmyra High School, Cedar Cliff High School, Milton Hershey School, and Lebanon High School. He joined the Lebanon Valley College coaching staff in 2004 and took the reins in 2016 until his retirement in spring 2023.

Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary at The Valley! 🇺🇸

Join us on Thursday, July 2, for a FREE outdoor concert featuring the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra on the LVC Academic Quad.

⭐ Alumni Tent: 6:30–7:30 p.m.
⭐ Concert: 8 p.m.

LVC alumni are invited to stop by the Alumni Tent before the concert to connect with fellow Dutchmen, learn about upcoming events, discover ways to give back to LVC, enjoy complimentary snacks, and enter for a chance to win various LVC raffle prizes!

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, family, and friends for an evening of music, community, and celebration!

In the event of rain or excessive heat, the concert will move indoors to Lutz Recital Hall in the Blair Music Center, and the Alumni Tent will be canceled.

Tickets are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to sport your favorite LVC gear and enjoy a fun night at the ballpark!

Brad McAlester, who began his Valley coaching career in the 1994-1995 season, announced his retirement today. Beginning with a 23-5 record in his first season, McAlester led the Dutchmen to 438 wins during his over three-decade leadership of the storied program.
