The Adult Program Project continues today as Mike and his team get the ground ready for fresh, donated Webb Concrete tomorrow.

Donations have been slow to come in for this project, but a few board members have come in with some BIG support to keep us going.

This project WILL GO ON 🚢

We took an adventure through “Daniland” today to celebrate a beautiful commitment to the UCP Center that has come to an end.

We’re all familiar with the sweet, helpful face at the front desk who took on more jobs than anyone will ever know! Her passion for the UCP Center went well beyond that front office. Dani has held operations together in a way that is truly irreplaceable.

Thank you, Dani, for loving us all well. Enjoy the time spent at home with your precious baby boy.

“Dorothy was the first female president of Anniston’s local United Cerebral Palsy Center and for many years continued in service to UCP as a board member. She became a local celebrity serving as UCP’s on-air telethon host, fondly remembered for her beautiful gowns and gorgeous looks, matched beautifully by a radiant soul shared with all who were fortunate to know her.”

It is with profound sadness in which we received the news that our East Central Alabama United Cerebral Palsy Center has lost a legend. We will ensure her legacy is continually honored in our center like she continuously supported us- even in her passing. Friends, please read this inspiring testament to her life of service.

Even in her physical absence, Mrs. Veach is still creating impact across her community in asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to our UCP Center.

To the family of Mrs. Veach, the honor of being chosen to receive this overflowing of love for Dorothy is not lost on us. Thank you for allowing us to honor her at our Center. Her memory will not be lost within our mission.

Thousands of children and adults’ lives has been made better because Mrs. Veach was in them. We’re better for Mrs. Veach… the first female president of the East Central Alabama UCP.

UPDATE ON PROJECT: Adult Retreat at ECAUCP!

We are starting TOMORROW! Catch our adults standing on supervision in their orange construction vests 🦺

We’re starting this important work with still $5,800 needed to sponsor the project. We are trusting that we will have raised the money from compassionate community members before the bill hits the table. It’s a big ask, but I’d like to keep my job before I sign this post as outgoing Executive Director 🫡

Peep Webb Concrete donating ALL the concrete. Talk about a business who serves! Webb Concrete holds this community together like… concrete 😜

Alright, Brandy Burks, we see you working! Our new Adult Program Director came in hot with a bulldozer and a dream.

Okay, not a bulldozer. We’re told we need a backhoe. Same thing. Girl math.

The point: our adults with disabilities are primarily in wheelchairs. They need a space outside just for THEM that is easily accessible! We’re going to give it to them.

Heavy on the WE.

Custom Designs Concrete Company has given us a quote for making the adults their own individual outdoor space complete with accessible walkways, pads, and places to dream. This is a BIG project for a BIG purpose! Mike prayed over our adults and is putting $4,000 towards this $10,000 project! He had a little help from our client, Donny, on how to give a good prayer that lasts.

Concrete math (which Brandy struggles with) makes that around $6,000 we have to come up with for supplies and labor. $6,000 until the serenity garden and accessible outdoor oasis of our dreams at the UCP Center!

We are busy at the UCP Center refocusing to serve, love, and support our children, adults, and families better!

We invite you to come along this exciting journey with us where you’ll see bright, hopeful faces you already know and some you may not. Our team is changing, our facilities are changing, and our approach is changing, but what stays the same is the most important: Promoting and supporting adults and children with disabilities to their maximum level of independence is our mission!

First, let us welcome our new Executive Director Laura Miller. Next up, we will reintroduce you to those familiar faces you know while putting our new Adult Program Director and Executive Operations Manager in the spotlight…. Whenever they take a break from playing.
