Every October, World Blindness Awareness Month brings attention to the blind and visually impaired community and the realities of living without sight. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “everyone, if they live long enough, will experience at least one eye disease or disorder in their lifetime.” Despite this reality, healthy behaviors established early in life can help the majority of the general population prevent complete loss of vision over the course of one’s lifetime.

The Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun stands with those facing breast cancer, celebrates survivors, honors those we have lost, and recognizes the loved ones who walk beside them.

This month, let’s turn awareness into care. Check on someone, offer a helping hand, and remind them they don’t have to face it alone. 🎀

Minister Wynika Hendrix has coordinated a Fill the Pantry Food & Donation Drive with the Anniston Soup Bowl today, and I want to encourage our community to come out and give.

The Anniston Soup Bowl plays such an important role in making sure people in our community have access to meals and resources. If you can, bring canned goods, bottled water or make a monetary donation.

Today, on World Gratitude Day, the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun pauses to say thank you. 💙

We are grateful for our dedicated members, generous community partners, faithful supporters, and every volunteer who helps us turn compassion into meaningful action.

Because of you, we can continue supporting women and children, strengthening local families, and creating lasting change throughout Calhoun County.
