We plan to open the trails at Weaver Cave Preserve every weekend this month!

In June, every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting, the trails will be open from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM!

The ability to increase access to our trails was made possible by the support of the Coosa Valley RC&D! Thank you for supporting WCP!

We had an awesome float down Terrapin Creek on Saturday with a group of four! The weather couldn’t have been better, and the creek was unusually quiet—we only passed one other boat the whole time.

The highlight? Turtles everywhere! More than we’ve ever seen on a single trip—lined up on logs, scattered across rocks, and soaking up the sun in every spot they could find.

It was one of those perfect, peaceful days on the water. A hard to beat kind of trip!

Thanks to all who participated!

We had a good hike on Saturday, May 9, on the Pinhoti Trail from USFS 540 to Burn’s Trailhead. The weather was near perfect as we passed several wildflowers beginning to bloom, walked alongside the Choccolocco Watershed Lake, and enjoyed a lunch break at the Choccolocco Trail Shelter. As we approached the final mile of the hike, I took a fall and ran out of energy, which meant taking several rest breaks. I am very thankful for the patience, concern, and support shown by the participants who stayed with me and made sure I finished safely. All in all, I believe a good time was had by all!

We had a nice day yesterday hiking the Pinhoti Trail from the Coleman Lake Trailhead to Sweetwater Lake. Although turnout was low with just Anona Aderholdt and myself participating, we had very enjoyable time along our 5- mile trek as we traveled by several unique areas offered on this section including Coleman Lake, the Shoal Creek Church and Cemetery, the Laurel Trail Shelter, and Sweetwater Lake. We were also delighted to pass by an abundance of wildflowers that were just beginning to bloom. Although we wondered why no others showed up to participate in this easy hike before the weather turned too hot, we both had a very pleasant day.

Photos from our waterfall tour in the Talladega National Forest this weekend. We had a great day with perfect weather and a group of 21 participating. Our route took us to Hidden/Hopeful Falls, Devils Den Falls, Cheaha Falls, High Falls, and Rob Roy Falls. It made for a long day, but I believe everyone who joined us had a worthwhile and enjoyable experience. A special thanks to all who participated and helped make the day such a great success!
