We see a fight.

A huge thank you to Gillian, Lisa, and the team at BFF Bikes for getting him back on the road. They swapped out his rear tire for a tubeless setup, fixed a seat issue that had been causing problems since day one, and sent him on his way with a pretty awesome new shirt.

As Rex has learned time and again on this journey, it's the people he meets along the way who keep the wheels turning.

Congratulations to BFF Bikes on 6 years of serving Chicago's cycling community. Thank you for helping carry the Coast2Coast4ALS mission forward, one mile at a time.

πŸ’™ Every repair, every conversation, every act of kindness matters.

Every breakthrough starts with research.

Just a generation ago, scientists knew very little about what causes ALS. Today, researchers are identifying genetic links, developing targeted therapies, improving clinical trials, and making discoveries that are bringing us closer than ever to effective treatments.

Progress is happening.

But progress requires funding.

That's why Coast 2 Coast 4 ALS is riding 4,000 miles across Americaβ€”to raise awareness and support the researchers working tirelessly to change the future for families affected by ALS.

The finish line isn't the East Coast.

The finish line is a cure.

πŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday to our incredible Marketing Director, Jessica Jones! πŸŽ‰

Jessica is the creative force behind so much of what you see at Coast 2 Coast 4 ALS. From sharing Rex's journey across America to amplifying the stories of those impacted by ALS, she pours her heart into every campaign, and every connection.

But what makes Jessica truly special isn't just her talentβ€”it's her unwavering commitment to making a difference. She leads with compassion, purpose, and the belief that stories have the power to inspire action.

Today, we celebrate not only all that she does for this mission, but the remarkable person she is.

Please join us in wishing Jessica the happiest of birthdays! πŸŽ‚πŸ’™πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

"What is Rex riding on?" πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

We get this question all the time.

The answer? Everything.

Over the last few weeks, Rex has pedaled across smooth bike paths, quiet country back roads, highway shoulders, gravel roads, and trails that look like they were designed for dirt bikes rather than touring bicycles.

Some days the ride is peaceful and paved.

Other days it's dust, mud, construction zones, and endless bumps.

That's the reality of crossing America by bike.

No matter what the terrain throws at him, Rex keeps moving forwardβ€”mile after mile, all to raise awareness and critical funds in the fight against ALS.

The road to a cure won't be easy either. But together, we'll keep pushing ahead.

Iowa was one for the books.

Rex has officially pedaled his way through Iowa, and it turned out to be one of the most eventful states yet.

A mechanical breakdown in Guthrie City led him to the Pine Room, where he waited for repairs and had an unexpected encounter with his very first white skunk. 🦨

Later, Rex and Hank took shelter from a massive storm at the Flat Tire Lounge in Madrid β€” which, let's be honest, feels like the most appropriate place for a cyclist on a cross-country journey. πŸš²πŸ˜…

While there, they met Kristin, a Coast 2 Coast 4 ALS follower whose mother is battling ALS. Over a beer and conversation, they were reminded that this ride is about so much more than miles.

It's about the people. The stories. The families affected by ALS. And the communities across America rallying behind the fight.

And now, Rex has officially crossed into Illinois, one pedal stroke closer to Chicago for the Champions for a Cure event and one mile closer to raising awareness and critical funds in the fight against ALS. πŸ’™πŸ’›

ALS doesn’t only impact the person diagnosed. It changes life for entire families.

Behind every ALS patient is often a spouse becoming a caregiver, children stepping into adult responsibilities, friends showing up in extraordinary ways, and families learning to navigate a completely different reality.

This ride is for them too. πŸ’™
