The The City of Annapolis is hosting a "Parks for Pollinators" bioblitz for the month of September, in which community members are encouraged to discover their local pollinators.

How it works:
Community members identify hummingbirds, bees, flies, and all sorts of taxa within the City using their phone via the iNaturalist app. The member who observes the most pollinators at public parks will win a prize!

Do you like trees? So do we! We just received a mini grant from Chesapeake Bay Trust to plant 18 trees in the Georgetown East Community. We are very excited to be able to continue working with this neighborhood to plant the trees around our stormwater cells installed last year. Some of the species to be planted are: Bald Cypress, Sweetbay Magnolia, River Birch, and Common Witch Hazel. Thank you to the trust for this award!

Good news for Maryland. Take a look at this article about the restoration goals for the Bay as a whole. They talk about sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorus reduction goals, which are the same metrics SRA tracks for all of our restoration projects.

Water quality update: This week we had a lot of heavy rain in the Severn River watershed. The station with the worst clarity was Indian Landing at 39cm (15.3 inches). The station with the best clarity was Round Bay Eaglenest at 213cm (84 inches)!

Several stations had chlorophyll readings above the 15µg/L threshold. This means the water has a higher concentration of algae. A high algae count doesn't necessarily mean the algae is dangerous to humans, but it could indicate algae blooms that will cause dead zones in these areas. Stations are marked with a red dot.
