Welcome to our page! We are a group of volunteers providing food to children at 2 Annapolis elementary schools. Many students who rely on free/reduced cost breakfast & lunch during the school week don't get enough to eat over the weekend. Our volunteers pack and deliver ready-to-eat foods for those students to carry home Friday afternoon, ensuring they will return to school Monday alert, ready to learn and NOT hungry. Backpack Buddies

Because Hunger doesn’t take the weekend off

Since 2009, The HBC Backpack Buddies program has worked with Georgetown East and Mills Parole Elementary Schools to help children in need. The idea is simple: many students who rely on free or reduced cost breakfast & lunch during the school week are not getting enough food to eat over the weekends. The schools identify students in need and each week during the school year, HBC volunteers pack and deliver ready-to-eat foods for those students to carry home Friday afternoon. Want to help us make a difference? You can volunteer to pack or deliver backpacks, provide needed food items, or simply make a monetary gift to this program.
